Introduction

    A strange Gnoll alchemist/herbalist and he makes potions and sells them for a living. He travels around looking for rare ingredients and to make some coin. He has thin wiry frame body and doesn't appear to be of the classic warrior and hunter type that most gnolls belong to. He's rather intelligent and speaks in a rather common manner. Occasionally he'll bark and laugh like a hyena just out of instinct and physiology. Rather friendly sort though he usually tends to hang out with the more "evil" races like orcs, drow, and goblins as they are more accepting of his kind than more "good" races.

  • Personality

    Kakk isn't your typical gnoll. He's very intelligent, not that strong, and less feral than others of his kind. You could say he's the gnoll equivalent of a nerd. He also doesn't seem to understand or know many of the gnoll customs either. He can speak the language but knowing in depth about their religion, culture, or mannerisms. That being said he is still part of the hyena folk and can be rather ferocious if provoked. I likes to laugh and gives that signature hyena like cackle that they're famous for. Overall he's pretty easy going and loves focusing on his work and study of medicine and alchemy.

    Keen Senses
    Gnolls have a enhanced smelling, hearing, and vision. Most gnolls uses this for hunting but Kakk uses it to identify ingredients, check potions, and understand ailments.

    Herbalism
    Natural medicine is Kakk's specialty. Taking ingredients from plants and animals and then making medicines and potions.

    Medicine/Anatomy
    Kakk has a rather extensive knowledge in many medical philosophies and theories. He understands how people body works and how it reacts to herbs and alchemy. He doesn't know much about surgery but noticing sickness and how chemicals work on the body.

    Alchemy
    This is like herbalism but with magic. Using rituals, runes, and incantation to invoke the magic properties out of the ingredients.

    Other Skills

    This is just some other miscellaneous skills that the gnoll has picked up on his travels.

    Bartending
    Mixing drinks is kind of like mixing potions. He has an extensive knowledge of types of drinks to make and sometimes how to infuse his own magic into them. Alcohol has many medicinal properties and he even knows how to distill his own alcohol. Just don't expect him to be making anything spectacular as he usually brews the equivalent of rubbing alcohol. (OOC Note: I used to be a bartender many years ago. I'm a bit rusty but can pull a decent RP out from it.)

    Cooking
    Kakk is a rather remarkable cook and with his knowledge of herbs and spices he knows how to season and flavor anything. He knows how to cut meat and prep vegetables and fruit. He may not be a master chef but his culinary skills are above average.

    Gardening
    When possible its easier to grow your own herbs and ingredients rather than collecting or trading. He knows how to care for plants and fungi as well as how to prune and harvest them.

    - I do not play Kakk in to any particular universe or world. Depending on who I'm playing with I'll adapt his profile accordingly.

    RP Preference and Post Length
    I find the concept of required posts lengths mind boggling. I understand the people want read details and description but to require a paragraph when all your character is doing is sitting and talking is excessive. I try to give as much detail as needed when I make a post without fluffing with repetitive or non-essential information. Reading a wall of text about the position of your hair and doing the same gestures and seating postures that you had in previous post is boring. Sometimes a lot of detail is very important like in actions scenes, sex scenes, or describing settings. These sort of RP's can take up a wall of text but each sentence should be chalk-full of information that Kakk can use. I want to know what your character is doing and how is that person reacting to Kakk or its surrounding areas. That's all you need.

    Another thing that people do (that usually is use to increase post length) is to go in an inner monologue. Some people who post its like we have an in depth flashback of the person's past because someone asked them what they did for a living. I really don't like doing this or reading this for one main reason. When an inner monologue is being made it is useless for the other character. They are not suppose to know about that information and shouldn't respond to it. It ruins any mystery or discovery that a player can have knowing your character. Not only that but knowing that sort of information can alter a player's role play perspective even on a subconscious level. The character may act in a way as if they know the backstory because the player does. I find throwing inner monologues really depreciate the role play and the exploration of knowing each other's characters.

    But that's just me. If you like that sort of role play and post lengths then go right ahead. This is just my personal preference on that sort of manner.
