Callashel Ahren

The first born daughter of a former poacher and an ex-seafarer, Callashel spent her childhood alongside her elder brother. Their lifestyle was somewhat nomadic, with her family most frequently making camp at what would later become The Hawthorne Hut.



As a scrappy teen, Callashel would often roam off deeper in The Shroud to practice archery alone (much to the dismay of her overprotective family). The older she grew, the farther she would roam. As the scoldings grew harsher, so did her want to travel even further, regularly landing the Miqo'te at the doorstep of her only friend Eponine.



Callashel's youthful rebellion was halted once Dalamud began its descent, and its intricate surface could be seen in frightening detail. As the days passed, the ever-growing red in the sky kept Callashel deep in the forest, as though the thick canopy above had a chance of keeping her and her loved ones safe.

After the loss of their parents to the Calamity, Kirin oversaw the care of his younger sister. He took up work as a healer and herbalist, while Callashel took up roaming again. Seemingly spurred on by fear, Kirin always met his sister with anger and concern when she returned home. After a particularly nasty argument between the two siblings, Callashel departed for good, leaving only a snide, barely legible note behind. Using little gil and even less forethought, she was able to venture to Limsa Lominsa.

Upon her arrival to the seaside city-state Callashel made a few budget-friendly attempts to blend with the mostly Sunseeker Miqo'te population. Primarily, she was rather fond of DIY from her stark white locks to pale blonde. Truly doubtful that her brother would come for her, her change in appearance was more for self-satisfaction than for the desire to throw Kirin off her trail.

Excited for new experiences, Callashel quickly set to forging her new life and filling her empty pockets. In the evenings she waited tables at the Drowning Wench while also occupying her days with some of the odd jobs the Adventurers’ Guild offered. The adjustment was not an easy one; buying food instead of hunting for it, paying for a place to rest instead of setting up camp, and dealing with such an abundance of strangers every day were all new concepts for her. Still, it was all so fresh and exciting in those first few days.

For a time, Callashel was entertained by her new situation. However, as with most things, life became routine. Within the season, she realized there were no new thrills to seek, nor boundaries to push. Frankly, table-waiting and fetch questing just weren’t cutting it for her anymore. Luckily for her, an opportunity to end her boredom presented itself rather quickly.

One fateful evening after finishing her work shift at The Wench, Callashel settled down to partake of a well-deserved meal. As the table across from her own filled, she couldn’t help but eavesdrop as the adventurers reminisced of their day’s conquest while they drank. Enthralled, she dared to glance up at the party, only to lock eyes on one of the men.

It wasn’t love at first sight, but infatuation that Callashel felt as she took in the unusual appearance of Arteliex. Something about the Hyur made Callashel's heart race - a feeling she had sorely missed.

Nothing short of obsessed, Callashel kept tabs on the crimson-clad object of her desire when she was able to catch him visiting the city; she even went so far as to follow him around whenever it was not too obvious. Eventually, however, she was caught and cornered by the stranger she tailed.

Seemingly unaware of Callashel’s unsettling behavior (or the fact that they had previously stolen glimpses of each other), the man struck up a conversation involving the arcane with her. It was then she realized in her untamed curiosity, she had followed him straight into the Arcanist Guild. Before she could even get a word in, he had introduced himself, rambled about incomprehensible magics, and decided they should meet again.

So meet again, they did. Naïve and lovesick for the strangely alluring man, she was recruited to The Keepers Of Dalamud on the spot.



Despite only hunting with a bow and lance prior to the recent whirlwind of events, Callashel took up Summoning in order to impress Arteliex. She soon found she had a knack for it, and her grimoire became her weapon of choice on most of her journeys. Though newly-learned spells replaced her arrows, she still made it a point to hone her spear training, however.

While fine-tuning her new skillset, Callashel enjoyed many escapades alongside an array of Hydaelyn-blessed comrades, vagabond mercenaries, and otherwise just purely powerful Free Company mates. It wasn’t long until it was discovered she too was touched by the Echo, and through The Keepers, recruited into the Scions Of The Seventh Dawn.

Through it all, Callashel never strayed far from the very man who brought her into this whole new world. Her longing did not go unnoticed, as within the year, Arteliex and Callashel were wed; a runaway marriage for a venturesome life.



Even as she approached her second year as a Keeper, she never found herself wanting for excitement or company. Primal take-downs were commonplace, espionage was the subject of dinner conversations, and the need to take action was nearly constant. Unfortunately, not all adventures end well, and after one terrible evening Callashel found herself and many of her companions publicly betrayed and displaced.

The troubles plaguing Abalathia were as the mountain range itself; Some of The Keepers took to diplomatic ventures around Ishgard, while others were drawn to draconic engagements in the lands both on and above the Dravanian Forelands. Enraged by what brought them here in the first place, Callashel instead found herself drawn to The Hinterlands. Focusing her efforts on exploring the abandoned Gubal Library and other nearby mysteries, the Miqo’te had little to do with the events that led to the eventual end of The Dragonsong War. Truthfully, despite her daring nature, Callashel was extremely thankful that she only had a small taste of the terrible, ancient power that was Nidhogg.



With much accomplished between their combined efforts, The Keepers finally took the chance to celebrate, grieve, and return home. Sadly, these quiet moments were fleeting, and passed before any true healing could be done. The disorder surrounding Ala Mhigo had exploded into a full-fledged uproar, leaving Callashel’s comrades virtually no time to rest.

A revolution on the horizon, Shinryu’s birth, and the re-awakening of Omega had left The Keepers already deeply unsettled. Throughout the turmoil, the struggle for the freedom of Ala Mhigo waged on - a fight to which Callashel threw herself into wholeheartedly. During a raid on their encampment, A sick infatuation set in nearly immediately for Callashel after she laid her eyes upon a truly horrible demon of a man on the battlefield. The thirst for adrenaline and severe tunnel vision for someone other than Arteliex plagued her for quite some time. In a way, the entire ordeal was like a twisted version of their own story.

With countless battles ahead and many of The Keepers preoccupied with their own troubles, a decision was made. Simply, they would split their forces amongst Eorzea and The Far East to best utilize their strengths. The two syndicates rallied new members, combined forces, and worked alongside the newly strengthened Alliance to go on the offensive. Finally with numbers on their side, both Ala Mhigo and Doma were freed from Garlean rule.



Upon the death of the Crown Prince of Garlemald, Callashel snapped out of her frenzied haze. Whether Arteliex was aware of the extent of her passions seemed to matter not, as Callashel was met with his open arms, regardless.

The great victory brought with it a sense of rediscovered hope and strengthened bonds. Thanks to the Company’s growth and ever-changing political climate, the new and old merged under the standard of simply, “The Keepers.” Among the numbers, to Callashel’s great surprise,was Kirin. While seeking to get close to Callashel once again, the elder sibling had made his way into their companies during her preoccupation. As much as he denied it, he had obviously grown attached to the others during their journeys. This quiet acknowledgement kept the siblings’ peace, for the time. Although the relationship was still rocky, the two now would work from the same Free Company Hall with their mutual friends.

Callashel found contentment in building and mending her relationships, rather than following her gut-instinct to run from them. Around the war table or at the center of a skirmish, the Miqo’te was grateful for the relative comfort that surrounded her. Even with the world in a constant state of need, she felt confident in facing these trials alongside her extended, chosen family. Little did she know she would be torn from her support network - doomed to fall back into her same old habits.

The Alliances' attempt at negotiations with the Garleans failed, the object of her past obsession had seemingly returned from the grave, and many of her fellow Scions had fallen into a mysterious coma. With the literal call to battle only growing in frequency, Callashel’s restless wanderlust returned with a vengeance. Ever the lucky one, she would soon travel much further than she could have ever anticipated.

A world away from home, yet still so deeply connected - Callashel witnessed firsthand the destruction a rejoining could bring upon a Shard. Worse still, she understood just how directly responsible she was for the final fate of The First.

The world was small and dying, but still somehow determined to endure. Regardless of the destruction that would befall her own land should they fail, Callashel still wished to help save those who could yet be saved.

Driven by emotion and the intense time constraints of their goal, Callashel engrossed herself fully into the conflict. Though she slowly joined with comrades both familiar and fairweather alike, she gave over to her problematic instincts; run and fight until she was ragged and worn, then do it again.

Back at the Source, the key to preventing the Eighth Rejoining was clear: Black Rose. Arteliex, on behalf of The Keepers, assisted leading the charge to destroy what they could of the bioweapon. With no lack of effort, a small group was even able to bring the fight to the Garlean Capital. What he witnessed there, Arteliex decided to keep a secret from his wife until her return.

After frantic scrambling fueled by nothing more than willfulness and luck, return she did. With the remainder of the Circle of Knowing in tow, and stories she would rather not reaccount, she was thankful to be home.



Though only a brief time had passed for Arteliex, several months had gone by for Callashel. The devotion that always boiled beneath the surface for him overflowed at the joy of their reunion (only fueled further by the victory-high she was still riding). Yet, those near to them had been spirited away in the midst of another conflict that was still churning. The towers that arose overnight, dotting the entire mapped landscape of Hydaelyn, reminded them of that fact.

It was only when a familiar-faced Ascian revealed to her that these mysterious spires were invitations - gifts to her - did Callashel hear of the truth of who had sent them.
