  Physical description:
  
  Jay would rather like to be able to say he's one of those gorgeous hunks every girl wants, but the truth is, he's little more than average. His features are somewhat sharp, his nose straight and narrow and his jaw angular. His eyes are almond shaped and almost black, his hair equally as dark and slightly wavy. He wears his hair cut to jaw length and shaggily styled, it often falls into his eyes. His mother says it makes him look like a slovenly layabout, he'd prefer to think it makes him look like a rock star.
  His skin is a rich coffee tone, his build lanky.
  He has long fingers, perfect, he claims, for playing guitar. His hands and feet are just that little bit too large for him.
  
  Not particularly tall to begin with, Jay makes himself look even shorter by slouching terribly. He's almost constantly stooped, claiming that standing up straight is just uncomfortable.
  
  His nails are kept short, mostly because he bites them.
  
  Clothing:
  
  Jay could never claim to be particularly fashion aware, he wears whatever he happens to grab out of the closet that day. Scruffy jeans and oversized tees tend to be his preference, sometimes he might dig out a shirt (Though he has no idea how to iron one, so never bothers). He spends the majority of his time in sneakers, he only owns a pair of smart shoes for job interviews. He has a suit somewhere, but it's been a while since he's had to go searching for it.

  Jay doesn't wear much jewellery, a simple tribal looking pendent his only ornamentation. It has no significance, he just thought it looked cool.
  He also has his left upper ear pierced.

• Personality

  Jay is a conflicted individual. Externally an extroverted, somewhat immature social butterfly, internally he’s compensating for a lot of damaged self worth.
  
  Jay thrives on social interaction, he loves to be the centre of attention but he is terrified of failure. This is likely the very reason he’s never made something of his life. He has a tendency to quit when things get “too hard”, settling into a comfortable rut where he feels safe and secure.
  
  Quite where Jay’s fear of failure stems from is unclear. It may be a feeling of inadequacy brought about by his parent’s obvious favoritism toward his far more successful brother. Jay was an average student, never excelling in any particular field. He’s never been really good at anything but he seems satisfied with mediocrity.
  
  Settling is safe, never wanting for more keeps you comfortable and Jay just wants a simple, comfortable life thank you very much. Of course, Deep down, he doesn't believe he deserves success or true happiness. He doesn’t actively sabotage himself, but he purposely finds excuses not to try to improve his lot in life.
  
  He has a lot of outward charisma, there’s no denying that Jay is a fantastic people person. He loves to talk, though never about anything too serious. Serious conversation seems to overwhelm him, especially potentially controversial subjects. Jay’s something of an expert at the rapid conversation diversions.
  
  He hates conflict, a likely result of a childhood spent listening to family members bicker around him. He isn't one to jump to the defense of a friend, he'll instead steer them away and change the subject.
  He bottles up his emotions and puts on a brave face, forcing himself to see the bright side of everything and not let the negatives consume him. Jay really doesn't like to dwell on things; any anger or annoyance is short lived and he quickly finds something to divert his attention. He distracts himself by always being active, always having something to do or someone to talk to.
  
  Despite his apparent outgoing nature, Jay doesn’t deal well with women. He’s a little awkward and somewhat uncertain around the opposite gender, eager to please and overly submissive socially he's very easy to manipulate and coerce while intimately he can be a little too dominant. Sex seems to trigger some sort of primal fight or flight instinct in him, and though he enjoys it, he definitely has some issues about control there. This jekyl/hyde switch is enough to scare away a lot of potential girlfriends, those who stick around tend to not really be in it for the relationship anyway and are more than likely under the influence of Jay's bizarre natural magnitism.
  
  Jay craves affection and validation, which is likely why he sleeps around as much as he does. He’s afraid of being alone, but ultimately, Jay struggles to form solid, long term relationships. He doesn’t have the drive to work through the difficult patches and he often settles for someone out of convenience rather than any real emotional attachment. On top of this, the vast majority of his sexual partners go off him fairly rapidly once they start to see him for who he really is, a slovenly, immature loser who'll likely never grow the hell up.
