The Fairborn are a powerful race of genetically enhanced 'living dead'. While most are created from a human existence in origin, it is possible for a Fairborn to be birthed since their reproductive organs are functional. They have often been mistaken for zombies or vampires, but the truth remains that they are in fact their own unique species who are far more terrifying than the lore and fictions of their assumed identities.

The meaning of their given name comes from an ancient lore depicting them as beautiful beings who's flesh holds no pigment and is instead often a dull grey or albino in natural light. Mimicking the appearance of humans so that they may feed from their victims in the very crowds that they hunt among.

The Grand Father

Sebastian Patrice was the first of his kind and ruled with the title of The Grand Father for only a few short centuries. How he came to be the first is unclear, but his name and reputation is known to all among the Fairborn who have access to such privileged history books. What records remain of his origin depict him as the most powerful of his kind, while his ability is unknown and stricken from their history. Sebastian is by far the most significant figure in the history of the Fairborn, being that he lead his people to a great victory in a vicious war that has come to be known as the Redemption. Sebastian's name is not mentioned any further then this point in their history.

The Redemption

The redemption was the final battle waged during a long war between the vampires and Fairborn. All of it taking place during familiar era noted throughout mundane history as 'the dark ages'. While the mundane records imply it as a time of war, the extent of death and tragedies during this time is grossly underestimated. It was during this time where much of the vampire lore found its way into the books of man, though overtime it has become considered as nothing more then fiction. The Redemption was a battle that many Fairborn fell from, laying to waste sieges of vampires enemies who sought to control man and Fairborn alike. Where the Fairborn were few, the vampires were many, but it was the vampires downfall to underestimate the strength of a Fairborn and more importantly, the power of Sebastian Patrice. History says that it was through his sacrifice that the war was won, and that the body of Sebastian was never found.

Records & Research

All records of the Fairborn have been wiped from mundane history and have been rewritten as fictional stories to be mistaken for vampire lore. It is extremely difficult to tell the difference between vampire lore and true Fairborn fact, but it is not impossible given the right leads by the right people.
All remaining historical records are kept with the hierarchy of the ruling Family, each individual in possession of a single book known as the Codex. These books are extremely well guarded and cannot be accessed without direct permission from the Family. While journals of Fairborn have been known to surface from time to time, they are often quickly tracked down and discarded once they have fallen into the wrong hands.

The following vampire lore may not be what your personal beliefs are regarding the species. If this is the case, please remember I am not comparing your personal beliefs of vampires to the Fairborn. I am comparing general lore that I feel is appropriate to compare. The Fairborn are a unique species of their own and are not actually vampires. They have only been compared to such and mistaken for vampires due to the similarities and the lore that the Fairborn and vampire race share.

ᛜ They both attain unnatural strength and agility.


ᛜ Vampires are often void of emotion and soulless creatures incapable of true compassion and care.
ᛜ Vampires are sensitive to holy and blessed objects.
ᛜ Vampire blood is used to turn one into a vampire while the victim is still alive but near death.
ᛜ Vampires are known to be shape shifters.
ᛜ Vampires are typically weaker than Fairborn.
ᛜ Vampires are undead. (Reproduction is likely a thing of the past and no longer possible.)


ᛜ Fairborn are capable of experiencing emotions and is often amplified to extreme levels when forming a connection.
ᛜ Fairborn are not effected by Holy objects or religion and also have a genetic resistance to magical effects.
ᛜ Fairborn blood is toxic to those still alive. A Fairborn can only be made once the life of the mortal has been taken.
ᛜ Fairborn are more like mutants with unique powers.
ᛜ Fairborn dominate vampires in the hierarchy of the (un)natural order.
ᛜ Fairborn are considered 'living' dead (Their hearts beat, all internal organs work and the body is capable of reproduction.)

When a Fairborn gather into one community they are called a Family. The status among the individuals of the Family are ranked by bloodline and loyalties. In order to establish the ranking among the Family members a simple guideline is used, though it is untraditional to the general structure of the mundane cultures...

ᛜ Leaders of individual Families are strictly pure blood, defined as such because they are born Fairborn and are titled as Fathers or Mothers upon gaining control of a Family.

ᛜ Any existing blood relative to the leader of a Family is ranked as a Brother or Sister. Except in the case where two siblings of the same blood are leaders of separate Family's, to which they will still be referred to as Fathers and Mothers.

ᛜ Sons and Daughters are the children of Fathers and Mothers.

ᛜ Elders are Fathers and Mothers who have renounced their rule over their Family.

( In order for a Elder to be titled, the existing hierarchy of the Family must willingly pass on their right to rule to a Son or Daughter of their blood. Once the renounce of their rule is established they take on the title of Elder and may continue to guide the new 'Father' or 'Mother', though the final judgement and rule will no longer be in their control. Elders become protected council members of each Family, should they manage to live beyond their time of ruling. )

ᛜ Cousins are not usually blood relatives though can be and are often rogue Fairborn who have joined the Family.


There have been a few rogue Families established over the centuries, but that does not make their union any weaker or less recognized among the Fairborn. Rogues are often far more dangerous then civilized Families and although they will not attack another Fairborn unless given reason, they are prone to turning humans in order to populate their Families.

While rogues are not mindless creatures that run about draining the life out of every living thing that they see, they remain quite chaotic in their nature and have an insatiable thirst due. Their desire for destruction burns deeper then most Fairborn and because of their natural intelligence and unnatural hunger they are considered to be fearsome predators.

Although they are a powerful Family when together as one unit the inability to survive on their own as individuals is what separates them from others. Rogues are a codependent class and they also need each other to survive, without the bond of a Family a rogue Fairborn will often go insane and withdraw from the very world it lives in. Starvation or suicide is often the fate of single individual without the guidance of a Family.

 The ability to detect a soul and determine its alignment. This often helps a Fairborn recognize potential allies from prey. Should the person they are searching lack a soul it is often considered a great find as a soulless creature can be more easily bound to them then one who already exists with an energy.


Although the Fairborn are not 'magical' by definition they possess a natural energy that resist most magics, whether it is a curse, or a blessed object it will have little to no effect on the Fairborn. This does not mean that the things around a Fairborn cannot be effected by magic, but if their body comes into direct contact it will not likely have any effect upon them.


 The Fairborn have an unnatural strength that allows them the man power of several strong ox. Even the women have a significant increase in their physical defenses, able to crush a mans skull in the palm of their hand if they so choose. They are a dangerous creature with such capabilities but they are also quite modest when it comes to using such strengths. They do not enjoy standing out in a crowd and will not try to instigate confrontation unless necessary.


Enhanced regeneration is a given for the species considering their unnatural genetics. Feeding off fresh blood will only increase healing faster. If a Fairborn loses any piece of their body they can grow it back in a matter of seconds depending on the severity of the wound and the level of current health. The veins and torn tissue will shape to the form of the desired limb and will regrow the nerves and flesh that is needed. Because of this ability decapitation will not have a permanent effect, but can put a Fairborn down for a number of hours.


Fairborn blood is closely related to poison and that of a parasitic virus. When it enters another system it spreads quickly and begins to attack the hosts body from the inside out.

An instant but temporary paralysis will take effect in the first few minutes. First it will attack the white blood cells, killing any chance of immunity against the virus, from there is will begin to attack all the vital organs, shutting them down one by one until the host dies. The process of dying from 'blood poisoning' can take up to a week.

During the first three days the host will vomit a thick black substance, while a black oil-like substance will seep from the orifices of their body. During the fifth day the individual will have difficulty moving as long term paralysis sets it, while a potent scent of decay will begin to rise from them. By the sixth and seventh day the individuals remaining organs will shut down at a rapid speed, creating excruciating agony for their last moments of life. Although their blood is toxic to others, it grants their species a natural immunity to most other toxins and chemicals.


It is difficult to put a Fairborn down permanently, but it is not impossible. Fire is both feared and respected due to the fatal effect it has against the species. Should a Fairborn be exposed to fire the wounds may recover over time, though they heal at a much slower rate than other wounds they are able to heal from. Starvation and draining the blood of a Fairborn has also been discovered to be an effective way to subdue them for a long period of time. Should a Fairborn be drained of enough of their blood they will withdraw into a comatose state that becomes an effective suspended prison both mentally and physically.

After a week of not feeding the Fairborn will waste away to that of a starved morsel, thin to the bone and void of the life in their eyes. To see a Fairborn starve to death is much like watching a live person mummify at rapid speed.



Although their abilities are quite different from each other there is one thing that all Fairborn have in common. The ability to absorb and drain life through the means of physical touch. Although the Fairborn can feed orally with their sharpened teeth designed to tear and chew flesh with ease, they often use their natural ability to drain the life of their victims when they desire a more subtle or intimate feeding.

When absorbing, the victims blood literally sweats out of their pores and is absorbed much like a sponge does to water through the contact point. A victim can be kept alive for weeks if fed on properly through touch, rather than being savagely brutalized. However, due to the fact that the Fairborn must feed daily, a victim may be killed off in the passion of a feed should the Fairborn not maintain a healthy diet.

Fairborn men can vary from lithe to extremely built, though more often then not they are thin with a strong upper body, defined musculature often complimenting their dominating structure. Female Fairborn tend to be beautiful and captivating though can also be lithe or strong bodied, but are rarely known to bulk up. Their beauty often one of their more desired tools when it comes to luring in their prey.


Fairborn eyes often vary in color, though seem to have an unnatural glow to them regardless of color. When in a state of anger or high emotion their eyes often change from their normal color to a solid red or black as it consumes both pupil, iris and sclera.


The Fairborn's hair grows quite fast due to their unique regenerative system. Silky and soft to the touch and always appearing well groomed. Different shades of natural origin (blond, red, brown and black) often range among the Fairborn, however they will never naturally grey or lighten. Stronger and more rare genetics can at times be recognized by natural white or silver hair.


Reflective of their name, the Fairborn are simply put... fair in complexion. Grey scale and thin, their veins can easily be seen through their flesh and are more defined during times of heightened emotions or hunger.


The mouth of a Fairborn is quite an ominous feature, their teeth  grow naturally like most, unique to each individual, but cap with sharpened points like that of needles. At times even jagged in nature, designed for tearing and consuming flesh. 


Black, deep red or white nails are common among the Fairborn. Their nails are as strong as steel and sharp as blades, capable of slashing through almost any material or mineral. They are one of the Fairborn's most notorious natural defenses and are not to be underestimated, for they can deal far more damage than that of a 'simple scratch'.

Each Fairborn is gifted with a single unique ability when they are born whether turned or conceived. Not one Fairborn is born with the same ability and the strength of these powers are unlimited as each individual can learn to master them if the time and effort is put into developing their ability.
