Winifred's pride, joy and profession is being a bookbinder. While his hands may on occasion be stained by the natural dyes he procures from vegetables and flowers, and sometimes the odd burn or two from his tools, the gentleman wouldn't have it any other way. Bookbinding to him is an art, just as writing is. A good story is a true craft and one he admires greatly. True, the white haired man would rather offer his home to shelter books, pamphlets and scrolls, which does impede on his living space, not to mention adds to a musty smell, but it comes with the territory to him. Ever since his childhood began forming a deeper bond with books as opposed to living, breathing people, Winifred is always in good spirits whilst reading or crafting. Gilding and tooling are some of his favourites, aside from retouching dyes. A torn spine is a sad sight, and one he is rather eager to ameliorate. He doesn't mind travelling to do the job either. |
Winifred has been known to travel Wôrdiţback to and from Fawzia-Kedet's infamous library to restore tomes, although he would much rather it be delivered to him as running across his family is a devastating dread. Nonetheless, he will do it if need be, or at personal request from the library itself. Thanks to his work and personal decorum though, it should be noted that if ever invited into his home, Winifred's house can leave much to be desired. Windows are usually covered in thick fabrics, as sunlight can do damage to his precious books, and if the fire is lit, he usually takes care to leave the windows open so that the smoke does the least amount of damage, and yes, this goes for in the winter time too. His fingers may freeze, his joints may ache, but anything goes to keep his beloved inanimate companions in the best condition possible. Winifred does this too, despite his books being kept in floor to ceiling barrister bookshelves (glass paneled bookshelves). |
