Named for the Spanish word mesteño meaning wild or stray, the mustang is a small yet compact breed with good bones and hardy constitution. As a colt, this Grullo Dun was wrangled with a feral herd by the town Betty lived in as a child. The fifteen-year-old was enamored with the foal and went out of her way to bond with him. They've been thick as thieves ever since stealing away, so close that anyone attempting to ride him besides Betty will discover the truth behind the name Bucking Ham. His gray coat features a white stripe marking, black stockings, and a dark line down the length of his spine. Both mane and tail are always cropped short. The affectionately named "Ham" is not gunshy, has a high tolerance to loud noises or sudden movements, experience pulling carts and swimming. He comes when called and carries the bulk of Betty's supplies.
