Troubled Past

Decisions in life, be they far in the past or more recent, have made a life more difficult for Zala. With choices coming back to haunt her, rumors are likely to spread like wildfire quicker than she can put them out. Once a very stubborn and selfish youth, events have turned her around to be a more reasonable adult. With a few issues popping up now and then, reminding her of a past she wishes she could have done better with, as far as her own personal growth and how her stone toss into the pond has created ripples in the lives of others, not always positive.
An tantrum in youth results in a fired servant, a sold slave or some such, changing the life of the individual, at fault or not.
Gossip spread by her own lips ruining the reputation of a businessman or woman, resulting in the loss of clients or the business altogether.
Various ideas are option, feel free to approach. I don't mind the idea of Zala being the villain in another character's story.

Family

Cousins, second cousins, lifelong servants, or slaves that have been in service to her family for generations. A nanny or teacher, uncle or aunt. Possible chance of all being NPCs to start, and progressing into becoming second characters even. Or, feel free to approach if you have a connection in mind to Zala and her immediate family. By blood, marriage, or servitude.

Be it an arranged marriage Zala is attempting to avoid, or a suitor obsessed with having her to himself, the idea being that an individual is intent on having Zala as his wife. Less than honest intentions having driven her to avoid him at all costs, including running from her home to an island in the sea to get lost in, or if that backfires, the Tether might provide enough of a distraction for her driven suitor for her to move on yet again to another location.
I am open to the idea of an past relationship gone sour. Abusive towards her, be it mental, emotional, or physical that forces her to leave her home and family in attempts to keep them safe as well as herself. Perhaps in the beginning there had been a possibility of marriage, but as the relationship went on, the abuse and possessive nature became more evident.
