Esther changes to look like whatever the person she's helping needs. Currently, however, she's choosing the form of a young woman with warm brown skin and hair curlier than springs. She small and a bit chubby, but it's hard to tell under the sweatshirts and layers she normally wears. Her face is soft with a light brow ridge and kept (though kinda sparse) eyebrows, paired with lips that have a slight cupid's bow. Her eyes are dark, though almost glassy with the way she seems to stare out into multiple dimensions. They are almond shaped and not very hooded. She's not very pretty just looking at her; it takes a little closer attention for anyone to really get it. At least, that's how she sees it.

Esther has four siblings, each a guide too. Her older of her two brothers is Theodore, the Guide of the Newly Dead, a surprisingly happy man – though he tends to be more macabre at times; he helps out the newly departed find their way around Eternity. The younger is Joaquin, the Guide Between Worlds, the most curious of the four. When he’s not transporting souls between the realms and worlds of this universe and others, he explores on his own, sharing his discoveries with his siblings. Lastly, Esther’s older sister is Hope, though some call her Faith. Hope is the Guide for the New Souls of the World, welcoming them or otherwise preparing them for their new lives. Kind and nurturing, she is the second oldest to Theodore, protective of her siblings. She is, however, now deceased.

Over the millennia, Esther has found herself with male and female lovers alike, as well as a few that haven’t conformed to either of those. Most are simply flings, as she rarely has time to interact with other gods, given she spends most of her time doing her job. However, she has found more than a few times some god or another involved one way or another with the people she helps.

Though she doesn’t have many true friends, she has made a couple throughout her history, sometimes visiting them later, others steering clear of. Point her to a cemetery and she would tell you the life stories of at least three of 'em.

Esther gets to know plenty of people through her work, a good handful of them rather dangerous. She doesn't keep these contacts long, needless to say. Many of the smaller problem people also fall into this category. She's helped many a soul in tiny ways: redirecting them to the right train station, dropping a couple dollars into their hat, returning their cat that's been missing for almost too long.
