Jax don't like to talk much about his past but he was abandoned as a child, living on the streets for as long as he remembered. Defending himself, stealing and do what he could to survive. The night that Sucker Punch got involved with an illegal deal, he was caught in the same blast that Sucker Punch was caught in while being nosy and gained abilities of his own. His game went to a new level when he stole from the wrong people and the only weapon he had was his favorite baseball bat he always used to fight with.

The being that was send after him was someone with super strength and high durability. When he was cornered, the powerhouse of a man smirked and asked what Jax was going to do with that bat. He offered the boy a chance to hit him and see if he could knock him out. This 7 foot 400 plus pound man wouldn't even flinch from a hit from a baseball bat. Jax had to do something. He pulled back with the bat, and with a though wishing he could send this guy flying as if this bat was like a powerful magic bat, he swung and to his surprise, a powerful enhanced pulse energy impact released from the bat causing a shockwave as the durable man was launched several hundred feet away and slammed through a building.

Jax didn't know what the hell happened but he and his bat was fine until the thought back back to his mind later and claimed he had a super bat. Playing around, he jokingly said his bat was so badass it could light on fire and it did. This freaked him out but he realized what he did. He thought about something in regards to his bat finding out later he could enhance his bat anyway he sees fit. He himself couldn't be enhanced but his weapon could.

When he met Sucker Punch after Sucker Punch took down a gang he was after, he confronted the guy into a fight and...well...it was extremely difficult to touch someone that can disappear and reappear anywhere and use firearms. What shocked Sucker Punch was how Jax used his bat to hit vehicles and launch them at him and used his bat to send shockwaves at him, leaving Sucker to show slight respect called it a draw since the guy had the balls to face him with just a bat. he had another job and offered to chance to help him. From there, Jax got into that line of business after a promise of beating more ass and that Sucker could lead him there.
