Hugo Dendron

APPEARANCE:
Hugo stands at an underwhelming 3'3” and is built like a sturdy toddler. His hair is a thick, wiry rust-red, ending in a pair of sideburns running down to his jaw. As is typical of halflings, his ears are stubby and pointed, and the tops of his feet are covered in fur. The soles are hardy and thick, and he prefers going barefoot.

He wears shorts, if the weather permits, and sometimes if it doesn't. His shirts tend to be loose-fitting and need tying off with a bit of rope, string, or fabric, and he always keeps his shoulder bag handy. You just never know.

PERSONALITY:

Hugo comes on strong. A loud, talkative show-off, the halfling will assume a familiarity with anyone that interests him, and go out of his way to impress or annoy. Often, he'll declare someone a friend in his head and just wait for them to catch up. Childish and short-sighted, Hugo will often act unthinkingly to entertain himself, or otherwise take risks he's not equipped to handle. Over time, he's gotten pretty good at compartmentalizing the consequences he chooses not to deal with.

But for all his shortcomings, Hugo strives to be a mostly alright person. He believes people are fundamentally good... and even when they're not, they deserve a shot at bettering themselves. He has no qualms about putting himself in harm's way for strangers, and is fiercely loyal to those he cares about. If you can stomach his motormouth, he's a good little guy to have on your side.

POWERS:

Hugo is a hedge wizard—meaning a self-taught mage who forms magic from gut feeling and raw emotion, rather than any serious study of the subtle forces that control the natural world.

The only tricks he's been able to muster are transmutation and fire magic. He is able to turn parts of his body into another organic material—plant or animal—and can change the shape of his limbs and skin to mimic creatures he's seen before. This could range from vine-like tentacles to scare off potential tough guys, to the clinging toe-pads of a gecko, should he spot a temptingly climbable wall.

As for fire magic... it does what it says on the package. If you need something to be more on fire, Hugo's your guy.
