  Mikio's parents were both high consumers of their additions, his mother addicted to drugs and their father alcohol. Because Mikio was the oldest, he was forced to take care and raise his brother, Takumi, at a very young age, after his mother started to neglect them both. Since he was little, he learned quickly and easily to steal, money, food, whatever need be just to get by. His teachers were always fond of him because he was a well behaved student for the most part, and always tried his best. They would always be open to assisting him in whatever way possible. He started working the moment he could, saving every penny and sometimes even going hungry to get him and Takumi out of that house. He did that quite often, and it is his reason for being so thin. One day, in the pouring rain, and while Takumi was trying to get something to eat, Mikio met a very kind woman named Yurine, who opened her heart and her home to him. She was a police officer, who took the two of them home for the night, fed them, bathed them, and gave them a place to stay. She was like the mother the two of them always wanted, and Mikio became particularly fond of her.
  Days after Mikio turned 15, his mother died of overdose. He always blamed his father for what happened to his mother, considering that he used to hit her quite frequently. His excuse was because she could never feel it, because of how doped up on drugs she was. Because Mikio knew what she was like without the drugs, he developed a love, and appreciation for her. Ultimately, she lost her battle to her addiction, and he believes it was because she couldn't keep doing it anymore.
  
  When Mikio turned 16, he told his father, that he was leaving, and taking Takumi with him. His father, in his drunken state, snapped on him, saying
  
  “You aren’t going anywhere! You aren’t taking my son anywhere, you ungrateful scum!”
  
  Mikio of course, snapped back.
  
  “Your son!? YOUR SON!? I RAISED HIM MORE THAN YOU AND MOM EVER DID, AND YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO CALL HIM YOUR SON!? I AM ASHAMED TO EVEN BE RELATED TO YOU! YOU’VE NEVER DONE SHIT FOR ME OR TAKI! YOU TWO ARE NOT MY PARENTS, AND NEVER WILL BE!”
  
  This resulted in his father striking him. Because Mikio was so frail to begin with, it was no problem for his father at all to beat him black and blue. He screamed for Takumi to call the police. When they arrived, his father had broken his nose, busted his lip, crushed his ribcage, and given him several bruises. His father was hauled off to prison, and that was that.
  When they were finally out, Mikio had to start finding more ways to support himself and his brother. So when a boy, a rich one at that, offered to pay him if he had sex with him, he took the offer without hesitation. He was okay with it, enjoyed it, and got off to it, therefore he didn’t see it at as problem. At least not at first. He was incredibly disrespected through most of it, but it never bothered him. It was because the two boys he was sleeping with never treated him as nothing but a sex doll with responses. But then he met Shiji, who treated him like a human being. Never forced him into anything, always asked him if he was okay, what he was comfortable with and what he wasn’t. He was kind, funny, supportive, sweet, and because of that, Mikio fell in love with him. But Shiji’s love was with someone else. It shattered Mikio’s heart. Takumi knew too. But Mikio never admitted it. He never admitted that his love for Shiji was breaking him. It only got worse when Shiji got together with the boy of his dreams. Mikio no longer existed to him after that. It broke him. Because he had a mouth to feed, someone to take care of, and a house to pay off, he forced himself to keep trying and doing everything he could. It resulted in multiple breakdowns, that not even Takumi could help him with. He of course, had his mother figure, and her husband, who was one of his teachers. He went to visit her one day, and found that she was so sick, she passed out. She was diagnosed with cancer soon after. The cancer ended up killing her.
  That was all it took for him to shatter. He realized that love was the thing that was going to break him. The more he loved someone, the more it would hurt when they abandoned him. So he shut it all off, broke himself so much he would feel nothing, distanced himself from everyone, and became cold, aggressive, and angry. All to protect himself. He even distanced himself from the only person he had left. Takumi.
  Despite this, he did everything he could, all of it for Takumi. He would die for Takumi, cross oceans and climb mountains, only if Takumi asked.
