The casing would unroll to reveal, fine rice paper parchment in neat intricate black calligraphy script. The words embellished with a glint of gold outline. The contracts read:

  In the following terms and conditions the one known as Porthaeus will provide services under the employment of Emperor Jiuqi within these professional expectations:
  
  Weapon forging and welding for all of his Nine Generals and Attendants, Emperor himself, and the royal family. With the exclusion of servants or soldiers, or lesser guards.
  
  Repairs or replacements to be made if damage is sustained to those listed above.

  With the addition to standard wage of: 140 gold biweekly or 70 gold weekly.
