➤As a youth, he was expected to be great, better than great. Exceptional. As an heir to a long lineage of proud alphas, it was no surprise he was a dom alpha, a true alpha. Possessing a set of homogeneous alpha genes meant he was supposed to be unstoppable, bloodthirsty, victorious. He was some of those things, many of them, but it wasn't enough for his father. Their relationship was tense, built on his sire's desire for success and image above all else, neglecting what his son really needed. Of course that was intentional, his father was building a warrior, a conqueror. There was no need for emotions or reassurance or anything as silly as spending quality time together or saying 'I love you.' That was never necessary. So he grew up the average jock: tough, popular, and a dick. Tobias fell into the pattern of fix, fight, fuck when he found out he enjoyed repairing cars and old machinery just as much as he liked to box. The fucking came with the territory of being an alpha. Of course he was sworn to secrecy of his secondary gender's existence, told to live as if he were a simple human, which wasn't that hard, they were all savages anyway and it wasn't hard to fit into all the depravity.

He went to school, played his part, even got a degree after a while. Eventually he met Anna, a pretty omega woman, something he was biologically attracted to on an undeniable level. He thought it was love, she knew it was just chemicals. She played him for a fool, took his wealth, his image, and his dignity. Tobias would still probably have claimed her if she hadn't cheated on him with one of his best friends and wound up having gotten claimed while piss drunk and in heat. It broke what little heart he properly had and his father felt no sympathy. When Tobias was cut off from his family, it was the last straw: he made a promise to himself that he wouldn't give a damn about his biology any longer, that his secondary gender might as well not even exist. He would worry about it when he went into rut, but for no other reason. He refused to take a territory, to mate, or to participate in the testosterone filled 'pissing matches' that all the other alphas seemed to want to engage in. He'd fight, sure, but not for the status. He'd fight because he liked to fight, and he liked to win. Eventually the other alphas in his area figured it out, that he didn't give a fuck but that didn't mean he wasn't still a true alpha, which meant he could absolutely destroy them. They were just glad he didn't care enough to. So he spent his days in the suburbs around San Francisco, fixing his neighbors cars, boxing when he needed the extra money, drinking his nights away, biking, and sleeping next to another warm body, whatever the gender. The only type of person he refused to ever sleep with was an omega, which wasn't too hard to follow, since they were nearly as rare as water in the Sahara, so it really never made much of a difference to him. So far he's been successful and had a fine enough existence, and he'd like to keep it that way. He also happened to pick up a stray German Shepherd, keeping it as a house mate, naming it Atlas.
