How We Got Here

  • Background

    The Winchester family, a relatively unknown yet surprisingly powerful family of twenty-six generations, whose distant and even recent ancestors crossbred with succubi from long ago in an effort to produce strong children with a longer life span then normal in the hopes of one day attaining the use of true magic. The process is still sometimes done within members of the family even now. They have strived for the attainment of this goal in many ways, through many different types of study in many different types of fields that seem vastly different to the one before them, but still in the hopes of building upon the skills of their ancestors. Among the association they are considered to be a family of wasted potential, for rather than assist in the efforts of their fellow magus, they remain relatively reclusive, viewed as seeking to keep their talents to themselves 0ver sharing them with the world of mages. This is only partially true, as the true reason for their reclusive nature is due to a sense of stigma they feel will be placed upon them by other magus for their mixed blood heritage.

    It is that heritage that has spawned the twenty-sixth generation of Winchester, Olivier Rockwell St. Marx Winchester, the only daughter of Jacquelin Winchester and Kevin Winchester VI, who even at a young age showed signs of becoming one of the most talented magi the family had ever birthed. At a young age, the majority of her line had gathered for a grand feast to celebrate her being deemed compatible with the family’s magical crest. It was during that feast, that they fell victim to a random vampire attack and a large majority of the Winchester family was butchered horribly in the attack, leaving her one of the few surviving members along with her aunt Aunt Rosemary Winchester, half-brother Allen and cousin Vanna Lian.

    Joining the mages association as a prodigy, she showed enough natural talent to warrant her joining the Department of Mineralogy within the clock tower where she spent many years honing her skills in the art of jewel and earth Magecraft. Years passed, and only after going as far as she felt she could in the study of earth Magecraft as well as jewels and a few other studies, she soon grew tired of the clock tower and set off to study a field she felt would be more useful to her own goals, Alchemy. Transferring to The Atlas Academy Olivier focused on the study and development of Alchemy, working tirelessly to at finding new and original ways to use the many facets of Alchemy, it was there that she saw it, as many Atlas mages before her, she bore witness to the end of the world. Members of Atlas utilize a method of prediction based on Laplace's Demon. After its first director theoretically predicted the end of the world, the alchemists of Atlas have dedicated themselves into developing methods capable of avoiding it. It was here, having borne witness to the end of the world, she worked endlessly to ponder methods capable of averting the end of days. This drive motivated her, pushing her forward in Atlas, she soon rose through the ranks, becoming a strong contender for a director position, earning her the envy and resentment of her peers.

    Atlas Academy had a number of unique customs for a magic association. One of them being, at times, the institute had been known to lend its alchemist to other organizations such as the Holy Church. When the Church did at long last request an alchemist those who deemed her a threat to them due to her high marks and seemingly endless drive used to opportunity to get rid of her ensuring she’d be sent far away as a temporary member of the church. As luck would have it, her services were in high demand among them members of the Burial Agency combatting the rise of vampires within the world. Due to her personal experience with vampires she was more than eager to aid the church in any way she could to push back the vampire scourge. Spending much more time then she’d expected working with the Holy Church; she took to it quickly and learned much of their ways, and the art of anti-vampire and anti-heretic warfare even going as far as to become an official Inquisitor. It was not until the fear of her being shunned for her mixed blood heritage by members drove her to flee from the church, back to the mages association, but this time someplace different, worried that those who knew her past and her time with the church would judge her she headed out far away to the remote regions of Northern Europe.

    She soon found herself ending up at the Sea of Estray, also known as The Wandering Tomb, an integrated conglomerate of minor organizations of magi that are spread throughout Europe that predated even the Clock Tower. They have ceased communication with the Association since the Clock Tower became the headquarters. The base itself being a moving mountain range that normally could be found wandering at sea as its name suggests. It was here that she turned her research mainly towards body alteration, and while the specifics of her studies are unknown, she was known to frequent two of their three main bases, the Thule Society and Prague Association, for several years before she disappeared. During her time within The Wandering Tomb she was faced with numerous and continuous nightmares about her visions of the end of days from her time at Atlas. She soon realized that operating as a magus at her current level was not enough for her to be able to affect the fate of the world and if she ever wished to stop the coming destruction of the world via heat death, she’d need more power then she possessed.

    Currently she finds herself searching for her half-brother, who bears her father’s side of the family’s magic crest. If she is able to kill him and take it from him, she feels she will be able to avert the disaster that will befall the earth, and she intends to accomplish this goal no matter how many lives must be lost in its pursuit.

  • Origin

    A person’s origin is the orientation at the time that an event occurred. It is the starting point that defines one's existence and directs one's actions throughout life. It is the driving force from the inside of Akasha that managed to stream out of the Source and take material form. The form it can take at times is that of a human being, and all humans match their actions to be in harmony with the driving force that originated them from the moment they enter into the world. These actions are more along the lines of an inherent compulsion that could be called a person's instinct rather than a conscious decision. If a person becomes awakened to their Origin, it becomes nearly impossible to stray from their Origin if it's even possible in the first place. It becomes an impulsive behavior one would follow as though it were an absolute order.

    Under the system of Magecraft, Origins are used to describe precise details about a magus, while Elemental Affinity indicates one’s general alignment. Magi with an Origin that is strongly expressed outwardly are sometimes removed from the normal alignments and there are times that the origin itself becomes the alignment. Most of those magi exhibit their talents as extreme specialists, allowing them to potentially reach higher grounds than normal magi. Even those without an Elemental Affinity are sometimes still capable of casting spells simply by following their Origin. It's possible for them to overcome great obstacles such as a lack of Circuits or a lack of talent for Magecraft altogether.

    Possessing the origin of understanding, which manifests itself in strange ways, has allotted her a certain set of traits, ranging from advanced deductive reasoning skills, photographic memory of even precise details, process information several times faster than the average person, body movement/ subtle cue analysis and action prediction as well as even full technique break down and countermeasure development given enough time merely observing a subject.

  • Inversion Impulse

    The Inversion Impulse is a state of being where one's mind is overpowered by other factors of their body. With the case of half-breed humans, it is that their non-human blood, their instincts, overpowers their human blood, their reason. Under the effects of the Inversion Impulse Olivier’s human blood gives way to her family’s succubi roots altering her body and mind from her shy and general all around timid self to a lustful, violent temptress with little to no moral scruples. Preying on anything from men to women and anything in-between she is at her most dangerous when under the effects of the Inversion Impulse. Because of her family’s long standing and continued breeding with succubi, she was trained early how to control the impulse, however mental trauma has damaged her mind and made control difficult, meaning she can go from to submitting to the effects of the impulse without warning and exit it just as swiftly. The changes are mostly mental; however those skilled in seeing aura would notice a sharp color change in her aura as well as mild breast growth.

    • Olivier has an IQ of 197

    • Olivier is an awful cook, for all her magic skill, she has next to no cooking ability in her whole body, to the point if it’s not microwaveable, she will probably burn it, even toast.

    • Olivier is suspected to suffer incredibly from strong fits of necrophilia, not entirely by choice, but her poor social skills prevent her from really meeting and talking to anyone for more than a few moments before panicking.

    • She has a bad habit of poking her index fingers together when she’s embarrassed. She’s well aware that she does it and does try her best to stop herself.

    • Olivier is adept in multiple languages, including: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Russian and Arabic.

    • Olivier feels there are very few people alive who can comprehend her sexual preference; as such she keeps it a secret.

    • Though not very skilled in healing Magecraft at all, Olivier actually has a rather large abundance of modern medical knowledge for practical and specialized use.

    • Oliver drives a Hummer H3 Alpha with a supercharged 5.3L engine. More so for necessity then real enjoyment for the vehicle, as often times its large size allows it to serve as a mobile workshop for times when a more fitting one is not available.
