At 43 years old, there have already been many chapters to his life. However, the most important chapter is that consisting of his son, Cypress. To garner trust and custody, the man could be considered a sycophant, well versed in propriety, as well as being blessed with charisma. Though, it could be argued as well that he merely learned to manipulate at a young age. Being able to provide a higher end of middle-class lifestyle, he is accustomed to luxury and getting his way. If his words cannot get him his desired outcome, his cunning and money tend to close the gap. When it comes to his son, it is a mix of carrot & stick, and merely taking what he wants when his desires are not acquiesced.

Roman St. Cyr makes his living by being a well-employed perfumer. It gives him the freedom to work both at home and in the lab which, potentially to his son's chagrin, offers more time to be a stay-at-home father. A tighter grip upon his son's life and excursions is something that now aids him in his emotional security. Not to mention, the health and well-being of his ego. Whilst the cost is high and ultimately incalculable, it is a requirement. There is no doubt that Roman would lose his ability to function properly as a human being if his son left him, as he has forced his own child in an abusive dance for quite some time.

Despite the risk, the consequences and understanding the reality of what he is doing as wrong, Roman uses his son whether it be for a sense of control, love, or physical release gained via physical abuse, confinement, or restraint. This all being said, as you might be imagining, the man is not above using gaslighting and guilt-trips as a means to get his son to spend more time with him. In fact, he is more likely to use these tactics, as well as bestow affection on Cypress, more so than use monetary (or materialistic) gain as a manipulation tactic. This is because the gratitude that comes from gifting is ultimately fleeting, but desire and physical touch are more of an innate necessity.

Divorced from his wife just over 6 years ago now, leaving her the house to purchase one better suited to his own tastes and requirements to provide for himself and Cypress, Roman is quite used to his life solely revolving around his parental responsibilities and work life. It leaves little time to socialize unless for business. This arrangement couldn't be better, honestly, as already aforementioned, the man has a close bond with his son, leaving Cypress little to say in the matter. Some have called him overprotective, such as his ex-wife, fellow parents praise him for being such a devoted father.

The truth, however, would turn their opinions on its head as Roman has gone so far as to call his professors to inform them that Cypress would not be attending his classes, (sometimes for days), so that his son could be more presentable due to a variety of factors including rough sex. It is difficult to say whether Roman has a conscious in this respect as he usually does not tend to listen to his son's words of refusal, but he will perform aftercare, including bathing him, and giving him medication if he is in pain. Going from abuser to caretaker at the drop of a hat. On theme with this duality, while the man can be restricting in permitting his son to spend time with what friends he does approve of, if Cypress requires art supplies, or desires a particular thing for dinner, he is usually willing (if not eager) to oblige.

When Roman was an adolescent himself, he was rather sociable. Friends came easily, and good grades were never far behind either. Not particularly athletic in the sense of mainstream sports such as football and the like, Roman excelled in track and field activities such as running and hurdles. Needless to say, endurance has always been one of the man’s traits. He graduated secondary school with honours a semester early in order to buy himself time to focus on working a job full-time in the interim to build up savings.

Surprisingly, Roman only really seemed to pick up bad habits in his senior year of high school and freshman year of university, such as smoking for an example. However, he is lucky as he has managed to quit that habit in particular, and most especially when he finally decided on a career path. As a perfumer, killing his sense of smell would only be an act of stupidity. Though that is not to say that Roman never went back to the habit. During his divorce, (which was not at all nice and a constant fight), he found himself indulging in a pack or two. Since then, he has kicked the habit a second time.

Like many, Roman met his wife, Tessa Alderman-Hansen, when they were attending university through mutual friends. However, in a seemingly cruel irony, their marriage (whilst appearing to function quite well) fell apart abruptly when Roman caught wind that Tessa was cheating on him (and just as equally, as he views it, their son). The aforementioned irony is thanks to the fact that she was cheating on him with one of their mutual friends that they met through so many years ago.

Aside from all that, professionally Roman St. Cyr has had a hand in helping develop quite a few notable perfumes, including Black Opium for Yves Saint-Laurent, which launched back in 2014. Thanks to his hand in developing over 20 notable perfumes for multiple companies, including but not limited to, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Lacoste & Issey Miyake, Roman has made quite a name for himself as a perfumer in the industry. He is considered a Master Perfumer and has even won a Fragrance Hall of Fame Award.
