Gabo Rafael

Gabo may not be an old man yet, but his life has been longer than most men thrice his age. Grey hairs are creeping into his beard and hair. His face has become more wrinkled than it ought to be. As a whole he looks to be the shell of a bright youthful man turned father before he was ready.

In reality, his worries have nothing to do with family life. This becomes abundantly clear if someone sees the strange scars from "animal attacks" that mar his back and torso. His clothes are normally dark and unassuming apart from the jacket worn in any weather. His pockets always look to be stuffed with something, though he rarely lets anyone see the blades, guns, and poisons he has stashed all over his body.

His imbuing took place when he an eighteen year old interning as a photographer for an obscure supernatural magazine. The work took him to the Los Angeles sewers, much to his chagrin, but he could not have guessed how unpleasant his time underground would be. He was attacked and captured by a Fire-Touched Uratha who planned to carve him up alongside a captured Uratha to summon spirits in one of their dangerous rituals. The captured Uratha had been frenzying when he arrived, but the Messengers told him that "The beast can be saved." His presence calmed the raging Iron Master who was able to use the pieces of Gabo's camera to free both herself and Gabo. The two worked together to escape and eventually Gabo learned the woman was name Sybil.

Gabo learned a great amount about the Uratha early on as a Hunter and forged many ties that last to this day. He was one of the first non-Uratha to become a consulting member of the Delphi Agency. His knowledge of Uratha is unrivaled among the Hunters, though he has learned a fair amount about the Kindred. He is a diplomatic man and rarely uses violence during his Hunts. However, when he does have to kill he does so with deadly efficiency, normally at a distance with a high power rifle to ensure success.

It is not widely know that Gabo married a Witch-Hunter named Selena Aguilar that he met during a his first hunt. His future wife proved to be quite open to his point of view and soon found herself at odds with numerous fellow Witch-Hunters, including her own cousin. The two enjoyed only a few years of relative bliss before she vanished. Gabo's cozy relationship with Forsaken Uratha made him a target for the Pure Tribes. Not long after her disappearance Gabo helped the Blood Talons as they took on the Predator Kings.

After a number of attacks that were rumored to be incredibly brutal, but there are few records due to the Predator Kings' aversion to writing and the Blood Talons' aversion to sharing their own records, Gabo had somehow gained the funds to start work on the Aguilar Clinic. He and a number if like minded Hunters and Supernaturals created the clinic to help all humans affected by supernatural attacks and all supernaturals worth saving. Over the past twenty years he's made life long ties to every type of supernatural and has encouraged relations between the groups that is often unheard in other cities. However, the Pure Tribes have a price on his head that could buy a skyscraper and supernaturals deemed "unworthy of saving" have lined up to tear down the Aguilar clinic.

Bluster: A shouted word can abort any type of deliberate attack. It can turn aside any weapon or magical attack against any target, but it has no effect on attacks that don't do damage or aren't direct such as mind control or stabbing a woodoo doll. It can only protect against actions that an individual undertakes.
Outreach: The Redeemer appears reasonable and non-threatening to a monster. They must be unarmed and visibly nonaggressive, making some kind of reassuring comment to the subject. To the creature, the approaching person simply seems innocuous or interesting, but not dangerous or tempting prey.

Insinuate: An edge that allows the Redeemer to treat supernatural beings like humans, which softens any anger towards the Redeemer and blurs their focus during attacks. It can even make a creature feel human again or for the first time, totally losing focus as their flaws vanish for just a moment.
Insight: By surveying a monster for enough time for signs of humanity, they can deduce information about their past life as a human, what they miss and regret losing. For mindless creatures, it's not very useful.

Respire: The Redeemer heals a person or hunter by breathing into their mouth. It can heal cuts, slashes, damaged organs and broken bones. To supernaturals, it steals energy. It's dangerous even to intangible foes.
Punish: By touching a monster, the Redeemer can draw the remnants of humanity from a monster to subject it to the terror and pain it'd inflict to a would-be prey. Every creature's experience will be different.
Preserve: Using this edge, a Redeemer can keep someone who has been severely injured from dying as if by will alone. They simply urge their fellows to hang on long enough and focus on them, usually managing to get them to survive long enough to receive medical care.

Becalm: The Redeemer radiates their inner calm and tolerance. It makes it difficult for those around them to act and actions seem to be performed as if subjects were groggy. It also stifles anger, alleviates fear and tension, and makes subject relax somewhat. It doesn't affect actions that don't have explosive or violent results.
Abjure: Once this edge is activated, the Redeemer seems to represent all that is good, pure and worthy about humanity towards monsters, a reminder of everything they have lost. It can invoke feelings of misery, guilt or fear and most creatures will try to get away as quickly as possible. Monsters who actively seek redemption or feel regret are not driven off, and instead the Redeemer seems like a role model to imitate.

Suspend : The Redeemer seals the material world from all other realms temporarily. No supernatural creature may escape without leaving conventionally, severing powers originating from another plane or reality. Likewise, supernatural creatures that can enter the physical world are barred from it in the vicinity.
Shame: When the Redeemer makes a scornful or pitying comment to creatures about what they have become, they can fill a supernatural target with near-suicidal self-loathing. It lasts momentarily, but the victim may lash out at themselves in fury. Certain monsters may be immune as they feel no regret for what they've become. Penitent monsters who seek redemption are not forced to harm themselves either.

Weapons

Dragonfire sniper rifle- This is not so much a weapon as a work of art. Through multiple deals worked out with the Garou Gabo has gradually pieced together this sniper rifle from fetishes. Each round is infused with intense heat as it winds through the barrel until it hits its target and releases the fire. Regular bullets become incendiary rounds that burst into flames. Silver bullets melt once they have entered the Garou's body making them nearly impossible to remove. And incendiary rounds cause small explosions that can sever a limb. +4 modifier to any attacks on Vampires or garou with this sniper rifle. Reloading takes two turns. (Requires bulky carrying bag)

Falseklaive- A large Bowie Knife made of pure silver designed for killing Garou. +2 to melee when using this knife. +2 damage to Garou. (Always on his person)

Flashback- This camera has been with Gabo for two decades and though it might be easier to just buy new cameras, Gabo has upgraded it to the point where it is unrecognizable compared to when he first bought it. It can be used to produce pictures with Second Sight and when in the hands of Gabo he can utilize to produce a flashback of a supernatural beings humanity. Allows Gabo to more easily document supernatural creatures and adds +2 to insinuate rolls when using the flash. (Always on his person)

Gabo went down a dark path after the loss of his wife, but he has come out the other side and channeled his rage into something constructive. With the Aguilar clinic running smoothly he is focused on stopping the indiscriminate killing of supernaturals and those who might work with them. He is focused on recruiting new Imbued and deprogramming zealot hunters. Any supernatural who is being hassled knows they can turn to him to serve as a diplomat and protector.
