THE BLACK BEAST
The companion.

For a short time now Ares has been seen with what appears to be a very strange black dog. It's no secret that the dog was a sacred animal to the deity and was once sacrificed to him, but no one is really sure about this creature's purpose, or even its name. Off leash at all times, this massive canine is never far from its owner's side. Most of the time, it is silent and unobtrusive, a simple shadow to Ares. However, it's not unheard of for someone to get up close and personal with savage, bared teeth and devilish red eyes, paired with a soul-shaking growl.
There are many rumors surrounding the dog at Ares' side. Some say that it's simply a wolf, or wolfdog (surely too large to be just a domesticated dog). Some are convinced that it is a hellhound of some kind, or even a child of Cerberus himself. The rumors amuse Ares to no end, and he never comments on such thing, even when someone is brave enough, or stupid enough, to ask him. While there are countless stories about the beast, one thing is agreed upon in every fable; don't fuck with the black beast.
The Mystery
The "Black Beast," as some have called it, is actually the god Thanatos.
They entered into a deal, one that is mutually beneficial, and one that no one else knows about.
Connected by a glyph and a powerful spell, they share a psychic connection, as well as one of power. Thanatos reaps the souls of Ares' dead, and the connection to Thanatos helps to keep Ares sane... literally. The god had begun to suffer a psychosis after his ages as the god of War.

Fashion:
Floats between casual and classy. Will sometimes be seen in jeans, a simple t-shirt and a leather jacket, but other times will sport a well-tailored suit.
