  Maddox Harlow was born 328 year ago, turned 300 years ago. He grew up in a fairly traditional Italian household with several siblings and parents who wanted the best for him. His time there did not last long however. At twenty two years old he was taken from his home by a vampire by the name of Sverre Suren. A born and royal vampire who was much powerful than almost any vampire Maddox has come in touch with even now. He spent several years being fed on by Sverre and used in ways that he is uncertain if he ever enjoyed or if it was all more akin to slavery than anything else. Either way he was the vampire Princes' thrall.
  
  In this time he came close with Ingrid Suren. The twin sister of Sverre. She was just as powerful in many ways, but not as cruel. Though she tried to pretend. When Sverre was killed along side the King by the rebellion, Ingrid was quickly outed as having arranged the plan with the rebellion and cast as a traitor. It was only hours before Ingrid was punished that she turned Maddox into a vampire. By the time Maddox woke up a freshly turned vampire starving for blood, Ingrid was buried alive in a the strongest coffin that could be made, drained of most of her blood. A common punishment for vampires called 'Coffining'.
  
  Maddox remained in the royal court even without Sverre and Ingrid. The Queen under the impression that Sverre turned him before he was killed, and took pity on him for losing his 'master'. Having drank enough of Ingrids blood to turn, the effect was also that he could feel her emotions. Over the course of twenty years Maddox could feel her fear, pain, hunger, paranoia, trauma. Usually when he slept, but it also overwhelmed him int he waking hours, he had to remain alone, avoiding the Queen as much as possible to hide this. When people asked, he told them it was pain from his maker being dead.
  

  

  Despite the fact and Suren and Maddox had only been so close before she decided to turn him so that he would not suffer the fate of being a thrall anymore, they weren't so close that he was in love with her - however over the course of the twenty years that Ingrid was coffined, Maddox grew emotionally attached to her in some way because of her turning him and his feeling her emotions. It became as common on breathing for him. Thought he emotions faded slowly, by the end it was mainly an uncomfortable feeling, when Ingrid was finally set free, Maddox had never felt happier to see another person in his entire life, and was positive she felt the same.
  
  Over the next century Maddox stayed with Ingrid as she was recovering from her trauma. It made him ache to see her in such a way. He was grateful to her for killing Sverre, and even turning him. Though being a vampire was not easy for him and he disliked being wrapped up in the royal drama, it was better than being a human ever had been, even with the pain, the hunger and the politics.
  
  Over time Maddox truly fell in love with Ingrid, but he was forced by the passage of time to figure out who he truly was. Without Sverre using him, and Ingrid's pain not being so heavy in him anymore, Maddox matured further and was able to figure out just who he was as a vampire.
  
  Maddox maintained an affair with Ingrid for several decades, finding it passionate and tumultuous. He could no longer take the pressure of hiding their relationship nor Ingrid's place in between the royals and the rebellion. He did not agree with the leader of the rebellion's choices at the time, nor how Ingrid was treated by both parties. While he attempted to wiggle his way into the middle of it all, it only ended in him almost losing his head.
  
  Ingrid begged him not to confront the leader of the rebellion, but he did. Maddox left when the leader gave him an option of living away from Chicago, or dying in Chicago. Convincing himself that Ingrid was too much trouble and his life there was impossible, Maddox left. Working his way up in District 5 of Virginia as the Sheriff. He goes by the name 'Talon' there.
  
  Sometimes he thinks about getting in touch with Ingrid, letting her know he's alive but has yet to risk it. It's been about sixty years and he's slowly convinced himself that Ingrid and him were nothing. That she is his maker but that was it. Sometimes he still feels the pull of their bond like a phantom.
  
  Maddox has grown much more hardened, sarcastic, possessive, and driven than he ever was as a human. He spends most of his time doing his job as sheriff the way he pleases, not the way someone else tells him to, drinking, laying around with whoever catches his eye and avoiding his own memories.
