Driftwood Delights- An Aquatic Artshop
In truth, little more than a single room with a door, one window, a work table and a fireplace- it is tiny and leaves very little room for storage. Yet it's owner considers it her personal slice of paradise and spends every free moment she can within it's crumbling walls, creating her unique works of art from shells, driftwood, plaster and coral.
The shop is situated tightly squeezed between two larger buildings, the door slim and made of mismatched slats of wood pieced together upon creaking hinges. There are several locks and a door post to secure the building, but not much else to protect it from those with ill intentions or greedy hands. Upon entering, the patron is greeted with a set of old steps leading half a body's height up into a raised,single room with one single shuttered window. There is a long table at the rooms center and shelving hammered into every plaster wall.
The shop is bursting at the seams with art, sculptures and wall hangings and plaster panels for sale by the shop's owner. Much of the shop's contents have an oceanic motif, boasting the origins of the artist's medium. But the plaster panels themselves, seem to be wall art made compact, and thus affordable to the city's poorer denizens who might otherwise never hope to adorn their own homes with such beauty. On the back wall, upon either side of the tiny fireplace, are shelves lined with strange curios Naywain has found in her explorations of the beaches and offshore waters- these items, some junk, some not, have been painstakingly cleaned and restored for sale in her shop. -
