• History

  Born on a quiet street in a sleepy little town in Delaware, Miriam Luca was your typical American girl. She went to gymnastics class, played hide and go seek with the neighborhood kids until dark, went to barbecues with her parents on the fourth of July. You know, the typical stuff. The boring stuff. Everything in her day was predictable, and her future was fairly predictable too. It was the perfect life for a kid, a safe life. But Miriam grew up, as kids do, and found herself wanting more.
  
  As high school graduation loomed every closer, she started applying for colleges as far away as she could possibly fathom. Her grades were good enough she was granted a spot, and her father's car dealership in their tiny town meant they could even afford it. An adventure of a lifetime was falling into place and walking the stage at graduation was nothing at all compared to her expectations of what lay ahead.
  
  Miriam arrived at her dorm, moved in, and life seemed to fall into a pattern yet again whether she liked it or not. A pattern Miriam struggled with. The subjects were doable, but the work load was more than she could handle at times, and her grades suffered. Her unusual intelligence in her tiny town had made academia a breeze, but at a University, she was simply one of many. Blending in was never part of her plan, but it happened anyway...and she hated it. Miriam didn't want to admit it, because that would be like admitting to infallibility, but she was drowning.
  
  Somehow she made it through the first year and enjoyed a quiet summer in her home town with her parents. When it was time to come back, she had the first real fight she'd had with her parents since she was a toddler. Miriam didn't want to go back to the University where she wasn't the special smart girl earning the grades and praise she'd expected. It turned out her plans for the future would require more work than she thought herself capable. But her father wasn't convinced, so when the time came, she found herself in the Dorm for the second year in a row.
  
  This year would be different, Miriam decided. So she put her computer skills to work. First she hacked into the teacher's network, stealing answers and coursework for just herself. And for a while, that was enough. Her confidence grew and her group of friends widened. But as she saw them going through the same struggle, she thought to herself that maybe, just maybe- she could help them out. Before long, Miriam was the go to girl for 'help' with grades and it blossomed into a lucrative side business. Now making more in a month than she had in a year at her burger shop job back in her podunk hometown- Miriam Luca finally felt like the city life might just be for her...
