THE BACKSTORYBorn the second son to the King and Queen of Carthya, a prosperous costal kingdom known for it's impressive military force, everyone openly expressed their gratitude for the fact that Sage had been born a boy. With two sons, it was practically ensured that the Cruorem bloodline would continue, and that in the event of an assassination on the future king, someone of pure royal blood would be able to take the throne. Sage, however, detested this notion. He was merely looked at as the backup child, and he did not want to be overlooked.
And so, from a young age, he set out to be noticed. He was naturally his mothers favorite - it was not that she didn't love both her sons, she was merely able to enjoy Sage more. Her eldest son, James, was always with his father or at his lessons, being groomed into a king from a young age, and so she had more time with Sage . His father noticed the younger less, or at least thats how it was to begin with. From the moment Sage took his first steps, he was a little devil, as if his purpose in life was to cause chaos. Despite his mothers best attempts to hide it, it was obvious that the young boys wild ways made her love him even more. Even now, stories of the young prince's antics are told humorously by the public: The story of how he set the throne room on fire at age 6, or how he tried to duel a king at age 9. Whether the stories are rumors or reality, they still convey one truth: the truth of Sage's reckless nature.
He was often referred to as the 'Boy Prince' despite being older now, and it's not something he would care about if it weren't a title his father was ashamed of. In fact, the king openly expresses his displeasure with his younger sons activities. From the moment Sage started causing hell, his father had been working to discipline and control him. Whether the punishments be physical or not, it seemed as if the kid never learned, which is probably what led to his current situation.
After an assassination attempt on the King and rumors of war starting with an enemy kingdom, Sage has been sent off to a noble's estate far in Carthya's lush countryside - safely away from the chaos going on in the royal palace and his fathers watchful eye. The King had sent him there in order to have one less thing to worry about during this troubling time, though to the public Sage's travels are for 'educational purposes.'
