Greta Lindholm

The childhood of a changeling is rarely entirely normal. Greta’s story was no different. Born in LA, Greta grew up in a single parent household, her mother having left not even a year after her birth. So she was raised by her father and grandparents. A loving family, but not one with much money, nor did young Greta make friends easily. She was always the strange tall girl who everyone left alone, equal parts afraid and put off. Her father, perhaps in an attempt to make her feel a little less lonely, encouraged her fantasies and fascination with stories. Even so, Greta soon began to put away childish things, even as she held them in her heart and secretly dreamed of a fairytale life, one where they weren’t scraping by to make ends meet.

As young Greta entered her preteens, she gained some admiration for her impressive athleticism. And perhaps for the fact that if someone was being cruel to you, she would teach them a lesson without so much as laying a finger on them. She was still growing, after all. Despite a stoic and reserved nature, she started to make some friends, though not many. Not long after her thirteenth birthday, however, Greta seemed to notice things were off. One moment a building looked like a castle out of a storybook, the next it was nothing more than an old apartment building. For an instant a stranger on the street seemed not entirely humans, sometimes with a tail, other times with pointed ears. It grew distracting, but what was most disconcerting, were the odd glimpses of herself in the mirror. Blue skin here. Horns there. Finally it all seemed to culminate in a feverish fatigue that left her stuck at home for a fortnight, and just when she was starting to get better, the curtain lifted. Greta awoke in a suit of armor to a world that both was and wasn’t LA. And when she caught her reflection, she saw what she truly was: a troll. To her own shock, she found it suited her.

It did not take long for the changeling to recall who she was, the sort of fae she had been. No one would let her forget. They all took one look at Greta and knew her face, the name of several lifetimes falling from their lips. Thyranna Sunshield. A fearless heroine who with each reincarnation, returned to her formidable legacy, ever adding more feats to her reputation. She became a girl with two names and many more titles. As was expected of her, Greta took upon herself the heavy mantle of her role, predetermined that it was. Since then, she has lived her life as the quintessential example of a Seelie troll; dutiful and unwavering.

Now a wilder juggling the demands of both her human and fae lives, Greta is lucky if she finds a few moments to breathe these days. When she isn’t being a medievalist grad student, she’s trying to run her weekly changeling support group at the community center, and when she isn’t doing that, she’s racing around LA trying to put out as many fires as possible. Well, those set by and endanger the changelings and normal humans of course. While determined to never falter, the pressure of it all weighs on her, though she would sooner cut out her tongue than admit to weakness. For she fears that if she cracks, then everyone else will shatter.

Chimera
Prydwen is a griffon chimera the size of a large dog, with the body of a lion and the face of an eagle. While a chimera may take on many types of personalities, Prydwen strikes just as heroic a figure as Thyranna Sunshield herself, a chimera companion befitting of a legend. Loyal, dutiful, and highly intelligent, the chimera is usually not far from Greta's side. Within the physical world, Prydwen takes on the appearance of a remarkably well-behaved pit bull who only seems to let loose when let off her leash or at home with Greta. A rather protective chimera, Prydwen is not one to allow others close to her changeling so easily. She might not growl or nip, but she will watch...and wait to see if you are to be trusted.
