Tarja Blackburn

The life of Tarja Blackburn has been nothing short of eventful. Being a pooka, however, it is difficult to discern how much of her own recollection is truth, how much is exaggeration, and how much is no more than falsehoods. What little has been verified however, is that she was initially born in the Midwest and eventually migrated to California due to a family move shortly before her chrysalis, that she knows far too much to not have lived at least a handful of reincarnations, and that somehow despite inherent irrepressibility so common in pooka, has managed to distinguish herself as a capable leader from a young age. Barely past her nineteenth birthday, Tarja began to involve herself in the affairs of the Garou as they were making attempts to rid the city of corruption. With cleverness and charm, she was able to organize a small motley who made their base in what would become the freehold of Harper Mere. Despite her youth, it was she who met with the Righ when the Fianna came to petition for an alliance, and she who extended the offer of hospitality to the tribe when the rush of banality from the conflict made it impossible for the changelings to directly intervene. While the Garou Nation of LA might have abandoned them and Harper Mere, the changelings paid their debts. Decades later, the arrangement has proven a fruitful one. With Garou strength and faerie wits, Harper Mere has thrived and grown into a formidable fortress, guarded as much by the Mists as by the inhabitants themselves. With so many changelings and werewolves in one place for so long, it’s no surprise that it’s difficult to tell where kinfolk start and kinain end. Tarja even gave birth to three of them herself, her eldest developing into a Garou like his father. To this day, the Seelie pooka still rules alongside the Righ in joint leadership. Some might grumble at the Dame Blackburn’s antics and eccentricity, yet none will debate her skill in counsel or battle. While Tarja has yet to enter her grump years, they are fast approaching, even if she does not yet show signs of slowing, and there are those who whisper that she best start choosing a successor. And there are those who envy her position of power. Some have tried to unseat her, and so far all have failed to either comedic and deadly consequences. The Silver Vixen is still as sharp as the day she entered the Dreaming, and twice as wise.

One of the rare commoners to have attained a position of note within one of the noble houses, Tarja currently sits as the regional head of House Fiona, the position of Duchess granted to her partially for her heroic feats in battle as well as her accomplishments with the Fianna. Some nobles sneer at the fact that they must treat a pooka and occasionally their better, but none can deny Tarja's capability. And they all have yet to best her in a battle of wits. There seems to a be a particular one-sided rivalry with the head of House Eiluned, though she seems little concerned with it. Despite her official rank as Duchess, Tarja still answers to the title of Dame, hearkening back to her early days as a roguish knight.
