xxxDespite what people want to tell themselves death is inescapable, and the number of ways to slip the surly bonds of Earth are certainly immeasurable. If one is lucky they might kick off fast - severing of the carotid artery and subsequent exsanguination can take as little as two minutes. Or perhaps one will experience a relatively painless journey to crossing over, slipping into unconsciousness in the frozen snow. Regardless of how one does it, leaving the world behind comes as inevitable as the new day.

![]() xxxIn Gavin's case, death took a leisurely stroll. For a man that had done the things he had, his death was relatively uneventful. No FBI busting down his door for some crazy shoot out. No trial by jury or lethal injections. All it took was some bad weather with some bad tires on a bad road. Hydroplaning off into the ravine crumpled his dashboard, severing his femoral artery. It took exactly six minutes and fourteen seconds to bleed to death. But the time spent postmortem was enough to span the length of three lifetimes. |
xxx![]() Until maybe, just maybe, Hell runs low on workers. Certainly, anything would be a promotion from infinite suffering, wouldn't it? Not all demons are born - some are made. Doing enough nasty shit as a person just very well may get you a ticket out of Hell, only now you work for them. And your job is to make humanity sin in the same ways you did. |
xxxWhere else is a killer to go upon shuffling off this mortal coil? At least Dante had a few things right - punishment comes in many forms. The whole 'boiled alive in blood' thing for 7th circle sinners? That one's true. If the boiling itself doesn't kill you, then the drowning will. Only in the deep Below, not even death can spare you from the unfathomable anguish. The never-ending cycle. Again, and again, and again, and again...
