Morokuni Nakamura

Bakus are dream and emotion consuming demons. Though, they don't really remove anything unless they wanted to, they just absorb emotions and parts of dreams like a sponge. They're often ambiguous and come in clans of 4 to 8, though it's less likely for clans to be feral, or any Bakus to be feral that is.

Bakus are people, often humans, who died wrongfully, often young, who are given a second chance to actually grow up. They're odd in behavior, especially the tame ones, and they all have their personalities and ways they click with people. They also develop preferences for specific dreams/emotions. They do have abilities, each breed having specialized ones and natural roles to fill in clans.

They have long tails with crystals at the end or somewhere on them. Their tails have needles used to extract pure and utterr energy if they really need to, though most tame bakus prefer not to use it unless they really hate someone.

They have the ability to jump into dreams to get more energy from them. They can't control it if they're around more than one person, but if they're closer to one person compared to the other there's a higher chance they can target them depending on how close they are. They're very similar to sleep paralysis demons because they will infiltrate bedrooms to get dreams if they really need it or want a specific dream. They sniff those out. Specific dreams have specific scents that only they can, and some other species may, be able to smell. Some Bakus, especially tamed ones, choose careers that may give them a larger source of their desired energy. An example: Morokuni is a model and camboy, he has a larger source for wet energies. Wet energies include lust, excitement, embarrassment, and even love.

They also have horns; horns and crystals hold raw extracted energy which is turned into a fluid they ingest through their skin, their tails, acting as pipes, or even their needles, acting as straws. They can, however, purchase Tamajus which is donated energy in juice pouches. Citrus can also be a huge substitute of real, actual energy for a period of time.

Needles can be dull or sharpened at will but bakus, especially tame ones, plug them with softer material to avoid accidental piercings. Their horns and crystals are very sensitive, being counted as major organs. Though they feel like a normal crystal and a normal, yet smooth, horn. Their tails are varying lengths, and their ears are often pointed.

During late fall and winter they become more feral and fluffy. They become itchy and grow thick furs, as they're very sensitive to the cold, and will burrow under fabric or even cling to people as a source of heat. They also go into a strange cycle similar to hibernation, except they just fall asleep at random points.

Males and females do have breasts of varying sizes, though females often have larger ones. Some breeds are often restricted to one sex over the other, though two different breeds are intersex. Morokuni's breed is not intersex. They can change their physical appearance of specific areas at will, depending on how much energy they have, along with their body temperature.

Morokuni’s biology and abilities is something I’ve often toyed with, but it’s about time I started actually writing down stuff he can do, what he is exactly, and just put down how special he is.

Morokuni was originally a human child killed and turned to a Notabariko, a type of Zashiki-warashi, which is a child yokai that haunts it’s place of death and causes great misfortune and fear among the family bloodline.

He was ‘turned’ partly Baku, for the most part, by TanTan and Himari who needed him to grow up for a specific reason. Lugging around a child was difficult, and he needs to do something other than cry, be a tomb of fear for humans and mortals, and stop scaring off customers.

Bakus aren’t born normally, they’re distantly related to concubi and other energy consuming creatures. Unlike those demons, which can be born out of rituals or birth, Bakus are born from resurrected souls that died in their sleep if the body is marked, not in actual mythology just my own mythology just so I dont confuse anyone.

In the left socket at the back, there is a tiny carving of the kanji “貘” which is just the kanji for Baku.

Because of Morokuni’s transformation, he still has his Notabariko traits, he’s just not a child anymore and isn’t directly connected to his corpse as he used to be, which had caused him to not be able to taste, see, or properly smell due to his body’s damage. His eyes were eaten by birds, his tongue had been cut out by his father, and his nose had rotted off. Because of it, he has scars around his eyes, on his nose, and on his tongue where it was cut off.

He can still manipulate people with misfortune and fear, bringing extreme discomfort to people, especially when he shows off his scars. When having skin on skin contact with a person, he can cause their body to react as if they’ve just seen a rotting body. He can also manipulate them to see him as a rotting corpse, which he has used in his school days and made a few teachers go insane.

His baku abilities causes him to jump into, consume, and interact with dreams. Especially nightmares, wet dreams, and dreams containing huge emotional energy bursts, which is what he and most bakus rely the most on when it comes to energy. Baku are even said to cause most dirty fantasies, usually derived by their own motivation, especially if the person is someone they like. Morokuni is very much able to do the same thing, as he can also cause nightmares due to his Notabariko traits.

Baku can manipulate a person’s fear, lust, hatred, and love along with any mental instabilities a person may have, for example, a Baku could distort a schizophrenic person’s hallucinations, or a Baku could worsen or erase a depressive person’s depression. Baku are also able to transport to the physical body of the dreamer to manipulate it much like most Concubi, and consume the energy from a mortal’s dream indirectly. This helps with a quicker healing process, especially if the Baku was severely injured or in need of direct physical energy.

His tail and horn actually come from another demon that he’s distantly related to, he was actually supposed to be born a demon, which is one reason why his father abused him like he did. He used to have wings that did sprout, and the bone is still there, but they were burned off. He doesn’t remember having them, either.

His undeadness explains the whole demon theory, as he nor does any of his family that still exists, Himari, TanTan and Basho, or Rubi are unable to put what demon he was supposed to be distantly related to. Muneie has an idea that it’s a powerful demon from one of the yokai realms, possibly a descendant of the child of Hashihime, a type of group goddess of separation and severing which are strong with jealousy. It may explain how Moro can have a negative reaction to feeling envy in any sort of way. He also has a strange rejection of freshwater, and has a strange repulsive hate towards old structures, as Hashihime haunt and inhabit old buildings and bridges near rivers.

The child of the Hashihime had grown a horn and tail from his jealousy, which had developed into a trait that Morokuni has. The tip glows like a candle, especially when purely jealous about someone or something, as the same with the child, as Hashihime carry candles.

Due to his vast amount of hybridism, it’s hard to say that his biology seems anywhere near normal. He has the normal organs any human would, since Notabariko aren’t deformed but are just dead humans, but he has some other things, too. Baku have organs that Morokuni had developed such as something called a Sloth Sac, which is a soft squishy sac in the back of a Baku’s throat that is capable of inflating and actually digests any energy into a physical digestible mass that’s able to be actually converted to actual food.

If Moro were to ever throw up while the sloth sac digests the energy, he’d vomit a fuzzy fluff ball that looks and feels dry to the touch, as if it’s made out of dust. Moro and most Baku are also capable of taking it out if the Baku hits the back of their neck just right as an defense technique for more feral Baku, as it’s only attached to the walls of the throat just barely and can reattach itself.

Without the sloth sac, which is often usually stuck to a Baku’s hand or arm if they find it again, a Baku cannot properly intake dreams and their energies, leaving them malnourished and having to rely on mortal food which isn’t enough to sustain them. However, just in case this happens, Moro found a place where he can get food similar in the energies that mortals carry.

Bakus have behaviors much like some strange mixture of house cats and wild wolves, they're a type of species that communicate amongst each other with gestures and sounds. Oftentimes, they may slip and use these sounds and gestures when talking to other species. They’re a rather expression based bunch when it comes to communication and getting the point across, often relying on their pheromones to help give off meaning to their sounds and gestures if they’re far more complex messages.

The number one thing to know about an animal is the sounds the creature makes. Coming with a variety of sounds, Bakus often use these sounds to give off expression to their meanings or desires. It gives off the message quicker than their gestures.

• Buzzing
  When happy, entertained, or excited Bakus emit a buzzing noise from their throats similar to the noise of insects when they fly around. It can vary in volume depending on how happy or excited the Baku is, but think of this as their equivalent to purring. They especially emit this noise when around people they like.
• Chittering
  A strange set of noises which sound like a mixture of birds chirping and the chittering that cats make, Bakus let out this noise when entertained, curious, or interested in something. When distracted by something that catches their eye, they make this noise as a sort of alert, but it’s been observed to also be a way of mimicking how other creatures communicate via verbal language, as Bakus chitter when communicating with one another about something entertaining or interesting to them. However, we’ve come to find out that only Bakus that have been exposed to verbal communication skills are capable of doing this, as if it’s a habit developed by the Tamed and not the Feral.
• Growling
  It’s quite common that most creatures growl when upset, however Bakus mostly growl in two given situations. When they’re playing, and when they’re actually angry. It’s used as a playful alert or a harsh warning for those to back off. It comes from the back of their throat and sounds far more wet than other creatures.
• Honking
  When wanting to gain attention from the group and pull it towards themselves or something important, a Baku, usually the Mono, is capable of letting out a shrill honking noise from the pit of their throat. Smaller breeds such as the Chiku are capable of using this noise too. They especially use this noise when scared or injured. All Bakus that are Leaders or Breeders are capable of making this noise.
• Barking
  Much like honking, all Bakus are capable of making this noise which sounds just like a normal bark similar to that of a fox. They use this noise when scared or injured, especially when cornered. Any Baku needing medical assistance will make this noise at loud volumes, as if trying to warn the clan even if they don’t have one or if it’s nearby. Tamed Bakus have been observed to try to block this noise out of fear of others judging them, but they make this noise just as loudly as the Feral.
• Grinding
  When annoyed or attempting to assert dominance, Bakus will make a harsh grinding noise by grinding their jaws together, not the teeth but their jaws. This noise, when made, is usually made by Bakus who wish to be left alone or who don’t like the current attention they’re gaining. It’s their way of saying “don’t look at me” or even in extreme cases “i hate you.”
• Panting
  A strange panting noise from their noses, Bakus make this noise when exerted in some way. It’s especially made by Bakus during mating, a sign of pleasure and enjoyment. They make this noise outside of mating, too, when gaining an adrenaline rush. It sounds like normal panting, however, and thus people often think that the Baku is simply over-exerted, angered, or anxious when in fact the Baku is simply enjoying themselves.
• Clicking
  A clicking noise from the pit of their throat, this one is often confused with honking even though all Bakus can make this noise. They make it as a sort of greeting and farewell, often clicking at each other or another person for a few minutes before reverting back to what they were originally doing. Tamed Bakus tend to not do this, but they do occasionally when excited to see an individual.
• Crying
  A shrill whining or whimpering noise from their throat, this is made by Bakus when they’re playful or trying to gain attention towards something. They can make this noise when upset in some way, but only in given situations. Younger Bakus make this often, so when an older Baku does make this noise they’re feeling youthful and especially playful.
• Grunting
  A negative sound to hear much like grinding or growling, Bakus often makes this noise at other Bakus as a warning sign to go away or back up. It’s a common noise made before territorial fights, mostly when it comes to prey or possessions.
• Clinking
  Only two noises are made by their tails purposefully and they’re often made when a Baku is annoyed, emotional, or stressed. This noise is made when the crystal on their tail hits or drags on a solid object, often times the ground, to tell others to stop doing what they’re doing to annoy or cause distress in the Baku. This is often made by Leaders more so as they are more likely to get extremely distressed over time.
• Whipping
  Made by their tails, a Baku can crack their tail(s) like a whip or by whacking someone with their tail to create the noise when annoyed or distressed. Paired with clinking, this noise the loudest noise they can make with their tail to mostly gain attention or direct attention away from something. By itself, it’s used by Bakus who feel the need to gain attention for emotional reasons.
