Giegue is from a powerful alien race, and was sent out to take over Earth and destroy the humans, in fear of them using the knowledge that was stolen from his own race to attack them.

He is definitely not a friendly life-form, he'd much rather use fear and violence to get what he's after, rather than speak peacefully or make friends. Even if he did wish to be compassionate, Giegue had ejected his compassion and other positive emotions, refusing to deal with them as he saw them as nothing but weaknesses. This, in turn, created Niiue, a manifestation of Giegue's positivity.

Giegue cares not for any other living being, seeing everything else as lower than himself, and just as tools for him to use or destroy. However, even with his cold behavior, Giegue is still easily upset, especially when hearing about his mother, or the lullaby that she always sang to him when he was little.
