"The Monarch of the Mists" --
Folklore had stretched as far North as Albion to which the very King himself became weary. Stories of a murderous creature had stained the headlines. Such a fright and unruly state of panic had caused for a hunting party to be accounted for. The hunt for the Monarch would commence in search of a beast, cloaked in clouds and snow. The last recorded sighting had been reported throughout the lands to the East. Stretching over the vast mountain range. Those that ventured and never returned were claimed to be taken by the Khoun. The Huntsmen would rally together and embark on their journey to kill the beast. Upon arriving to the town known as Khoundor, the tales had amounted from murderous reports to the raping of women. One, Miss Sophia DeFloure was the last of the victims that claimed to have escaped the Khoun's lair. Her skin had been turned to ribbons, but it was the ever growing mound in her stomach that alarmed the townsfolk. Inside was rumored to be a festering demon seed, though none could bear taking the woman's life for she was barely nineteen. The Huntsmen were fueled with anger that such a dark, menacing creature would dare taint one of their women. With rifles in hand, they believed the only way to ensure the birth to be natural was to kill the creature and sever the head from its body.
Many weeks had surpassed and the number of sightings had dwindled. The townsfolk thought the Huntsmen had scared away the beast and assumed the curse to be lifted as Miss DeFloure appeared to be recovering. No longer the pale mess of ribbons, having regained her pigmentation. The birth was a success, baring life to a son she would later call Hobbs. The Huntsmen were still on strict orders to track down the beast and kill it before it dared reach their home front. Thus they left the small town of Khoundor to continue their search. Many years had passed, and men were finding the courage to embark through the snowy mountain slopes. All seemed well in the Town, until the fifth of November...
A glass shattering scream pierced through the silent Town. Once dawn had risen, the townsfolk would find the dear DeFloure laying in a pool of blood. Her neck bitten, nearly severing her head. Her son, Hobbs, was no where to be found. All that was left was a trail of blood that led back up the mountains. The Khoun had returned...
