Marius Volusenus Rubiter

After Countess bought the near death Marius, she offered him a new life. One where he didn't have to fight for a living anymore, to be a slave; a life everlasting. At first, Marius rejected her offer, he had known what the life of a gladiator meant, an early death, and he was more than willing to accept that.

It seemed that he was not meant to die that day, not permanently, anyways. Marius was forced to drink the blood of Countess, too weak to even fight her off. His body convulsed violently and Marius decided then that this woman was sadistic! How dare she make him suffer even further before death! Why could he not just succum to his wounds peacefully? And that man standing beside her, chuckling like that...what the fuck was wrong with him?!?

Marius did die, but was brought back, or as Countess said, "awakened" a few hours later. At first, Marius tried to fight the two, but was quickly subdued by the larger man and oddly enough, the petite woman as well. Then he tried to flee, only to get burned as soon as the sunlight touched his skin. This made Torres roar in laughter. Countess waited until Marius calmed down enough before explaining what they were and now what he was; a vampire. Even if it made logical sense the gladiator laughed it off like a joke before feeling his gums aching something awful. Upon reaching up to figure out what was wrong, Marius felt two fangs protruding from his mouth and froze in shock and horror.

At first, Marius resented Countess for awakening him, not pleased with the fsct that he needed blood to survive now. Even with all the perks that came with his new existence, nothing seemed to satisfy him. Both were surprised by the amount of restraint Marius exhibited as a newborn, rarely losing it over the bloodlust.

Marius and Torres butted heads a lot, at first it was due to their conflicting personalities. While Marius was more laid back and calm, Torres was intense with a fiery temper; especially when it came to Countess. At first, it seemed to Marius that Countess and Torres were a couple, but that outlook changed from how frequently Countess regulated herself between the two men. Sometimes, after some convincing on her part, the two would even share her.

As the years passed Marius lost his resentment and became good friends with Torres as well. Often times though, Marius would have to put Torres in his place or redirect him when the older vampires protective and violent nature got the best of him.

As the decades turned to centuries and time passed, the clan grew. Each person Countess selected to turn, she felt pity for, wanting to save them from the Hell they existed in. Marius became Torres' right hand man, advisor and friend, sometimes even stepping in as the role of acting count. While Torres was the alpha male, the main protector of the clan, though mostly Countess, Marius was seen as a father figure to the newly turned members. He taught them restraint, was more empathic to their mistakes while Torres would react harshly.

During the Great Depression, while talking a walk through the forest Marius caught the stromg scent of fresh blood and went to investigate. The vampire stumbled upon a mauled boy, no older than eleven. Marius scooped up the unconcious lad carefully to not jostle his wounds too much before returning to the clan. Seamus did not think the kid would pull through, neither did Juvente and Torres. Much to their surprise, the kid did. But now the question was, what should they do with him. It wasn't right to send Klaus back into the world alone, but could a house of vampires really live with a human? Ultimately, it was decided amongst the clan to take Klaus in as their ward.

Marius was more protective over the boy, resembling Torres with Countess, in a way. But this was just to make sure none of the clan lost control of their bloodlust. The entire clan raised Klaus, Countess acted like a motherly figure for him, while the twins treated Niklaus like a younger brother, even Torres and Seumas eventually warmed up to Klaus, training him how to fight and protect himself. Helki taught the kid about spiritual aspects and Juvente and Eisaku kept up with his education. Marius was still his primary caretaker though and if the rough housing got to be a bit much, Marius was quick to put an end to it.

Upon Klaus tuening twenty-one, he requested to be awakened, not wanting to part from his family. The clan agreed unanimously. Klaus was a handful as a newborn, often losing control or causing chaos. Even aging didn't mellow him out! Klaus is open about his attraction and affection towards Marius and the clan loves to tease Marius for this. While the attraction and love is there, it is difficult for Marius to get over the fact that he raised Klaus!
