Zabizel

Zabizel fits best in an rp in one of three main tropes:

• As an observer/learner/crafter, reluctant ally/teacher, or guide
• As an uncooperative being bound by some obligation (social or otherwise)
• As an abomination, monster, cryptid, or other paranormal/supernatural entity

She can fit into a variety of settings depending on the above tropes.

If you'd prefer a list of her abilities before starting a roleplay, be sure to DM me about that. Otherwise, I will assume you are agreeable to using the information on her site and figuring out the rest through roleplay.

I prefer to play Zabi in settings where she doesn't necessarily have to stay in one place/hide a lot, and I most enjoy playing her in the first two tropes. I will play her best in the third trope as a villain/antagonist and with darker (18+) themes - of course, with discussing limits with my rp partner first.

I generally like to talk through basic expectations for an rp, i.e. where and how our characters will meet and what will be motivating them. The focus of the rp, setting, and any other necessary details should be figured out between us before getting started, as well. I'm not a stickler on post length at all, I prefer quality over quantity. Just give me something to reply to, and I'll be good!

I typically post 2-3 times during the week, and can be more active on weekends. Should anything come up and a hiatus is needed or my partner wants to discuss ideas or anything about the role play, I am always open to that as well.

With these dim and shallow hands...


Over the many long years, Zabi has been working on a pet project of sorts.
Centuries in the making, she has shaped and refined a pocket dimension to her own liking. Having recently lowered the plane's strict defenses, Zabizel remains tied to it in a sense - aware of the comings and goings of those who would venture into it, and strangely curious; she is in fact quite welcoming of such new life to pay the place a visit. While her past creations are best known among those survivors of her ilk, currently Zabi remains quite highly dexterous and with a solid 'muscle memory' of her craft. She is quick to understand the components of something new to her, and even quicker if allowed to play with a new material. Zabi is capable of 'dividing off' portions of herself, these can then aid in a variety of tasks.

The items she creates range from decorative to utilitarian, and despite the novel physics of her environment this one has learned to replicate or reinvent a variety of effects. Her primary form's hands can emit various substances to be used towards such ends, though Zabizel is careful to keep certain alignments among her kind from coming into contact with such tools of her own creation.

The path to restoration is never easy.

Zabi requires healing not only of her genetic damage, but in mind and spirit.
As for what roads could lead towards such an outcome? She is opposed to those of her kind that would view the newly blossoming life of this universe as mere detritus, and yet is unwilling to fully align herself to those who would protect such fragile things. A part of her still keenly believes that there is a way to restore or recreate their previous splendor, through some means that would not necessitate such cruel ends. Regardless, her hands have never been the same since witnessing that which brought her world to its its shattered knees. The thought that she could be of use in such a desperate belief is in and of itself, ridiculous - the musings of a youngling at best. Should a path open for her that could be aligned with some unforeseeable reality towards just such an end, certainly then the potential for Zabizel to become something more unfolds brightly. Still, her past remains along with all that darkness tied to it - just as for any of her kind, regardless of their belief.

Of note, while unforeseen it is not necessarily to be understood that resolving the primary issue of her entire kind is in fact, the only path forward in terms of beginning her healing and recovery. There is a smaller and more personal matter with which to start, though it is not something the being will volunteer lightly.

Note: As an Elder, Zabizel is a shapeshifter to the extreme. Her gallery includes her mask's preferred appearances, but she is capable of changing these forms almost as easily as one moves their own hand. In present day, genetic damage limits her severely. I am open to un-limiting her forms beyond these if that is desirable for a roleplay setting.

Zabi is depicted here as her current self, with some allusions to a darker past.

This is to provide insight as to what’s going on in her mind, as being so unusual of a creature can be a bit difficult for some to truly get to know. Zabizel can be seen as something of an alien or mystical being, or even a near-eldritch/paranormal creature, though she is certainly not at all god-like in any way. Her world is long gone, the fractured remnants ultimately leading up to facets that shared in the foundations of the creation of our current universe and the reality wherein she now lives. That said, it is a fact the Elder remains a bit touchy on; despite going on to become rather inquisitive of other forms of life. She can take on the role of an ally or teacher, or even be a rather effective source for certain creations were one to discover her capacities for such things and gain trust in aiding a particular recovery. It should also be noted, there are those among her kind that are of a similar mind as well as those that are far, far from it...


A final note: I work full-time, and have limited availability during weekdays. I try to post 2-3 times a week, and stick to 2-3+ paragraphs in third person. I am fully flexible with my partner's writing style and post frequency/length, and only ask to avoid chatspeak or one-liners. I'll do my best to alert of any hiatus, and am flexible if something comes up for my partner - life happens to us all. Lastly, her personality is more flexible than she puts out - she's like an igloo that takes a bit more work to crack into and tries to push people out, is all.

Zabizel used to be a masterful artisan and well-respected among her kind. Originally, she was more aligned to those of her people that would see a return of their dominion. However, Zabi has since learned an appreciation for other forms of life, and has found her curiosity if not stronger than her sense of loss, then certainly the potential for such life more important than the idea of it all being cut off. Due to this perspective, she has come to foster a tentative respect for these more gently-held beings. In this way she has taken on the roles of being an ally and teacher, a guide and something of a researcher - even in circumstances where she has been studied in return. That said, Zabi remains rather independent and is not one to simply take to being restrained - either physically or by social obligations. To this end, she often moves in a more independent and solitary manner, at times to the chagrin of others that would ask for more from the being.

Zabi can be quiet and observant, a simple if effective speaker, or come with a wealth of very direct observations and remarks depending on the scenario she finds herself in. She is increasingly becoming sociable, not that the Elder would yet admit it nor appreciate being teased for the fact.

Zabizel can be played as more of a shapeshifter, or keep to only 1-2 of her forms far more often than any others. She can shift into almost anything, or change parts of her body to suit a need (i.e. flying or swimming) more efficiently. This means a great deal of flexibility - and should be kept in mind when roleplaying with her.

She'd had everything. something New emerges.


She could have been killed.
To die with it all, and yet her form is reborn... Here in the ruins of their long dominion.
The ashes of what came before, coalesced and turned not to rot but bearing fruit of new life. A life unfettered with their familiar pressure, chaos, and power... Beings held mercifully tender by the hands of mathematics and order, churned outwards as the blazing glory in drops of radiance and ferocity give way in a muted void towards what?

She once thought these to be a true offense.
But now, those fruits may yet hold a semblance of worth.


She will not turn from the fact of their fallen and shattered realms.
But neither will this one play into the games which led them to such damnation to begin with.

She prefers not to be touched, particularly on her hands.
These are still faded and marred; a reminder all too familiar and difficult for this one to bear.

Zabizel has four sets of eyes in her primary form, the largest and most obvious pair actually being fakes which function as sensory organs for other less mundane matters - temperature, vibration, bioelectricity... Rather, her true primary eyes remain just beneath the apparent fold of her jawline, which along with the other pair are more than capable of witnessing that which is ahead of and around her. This nuanced form of ‘seeing’ and sensing is even more pronounced in her secondary form, which relies more on sensitive wing-shaped permutations that grant her far more than simple orbs of ocular degeneration could ever offer. Her genetic damage is however, extensive and more readily apparent in this secondary shape. She also faces some discomfort in transitioning out of this form, and her visual range is stunted. A tertiary form exists as essentially a horse's skull suspended in fully-manipulated noxious vapors. There is some pain for her in taking this shape on, and difficulty in leaving it - as such, Zabizel avoids using this form unless truly needed. It is a shape that has some cracks, allowing for aspects of her true self to 'leak' out and create minor visual phenomena. In this shape, her sensory ability will have weakened even further.

Zabi's third form can melt as well, often to a near-black phase of amaranthine and at times into shades of carmine or amber. She can travel as an inked shadow or as a mist, along paths unknowable to those more humble and nascent beings that inhabit this relatively new reality.

She does not care for contributing to new life. To Zabi, procreation is a right which should be granted to those above her pyramidic layer, and even these Elders face challenges in fashioning more of their own as it is. For a solution to such a wrong, she may yet then reshape her mind on the matter - but for now, that is no more than a whisper of a dream.

She'd been one to rival many hands, both in trickery and artisanship.
By the time the Adjudicate came to protect those it held dear, Zabi could see the measure in those coming tides of ruin.

And yet, despite the shaper's confidence - it so quickly turned out as so much more. Found tied within eyes deep in passion, beauty, sinister pain, and terror; eager to lay waste upon her and all the being once knew. For a time, her mind was shattered. The destruction of her universe, and waking to all it had become - is it any wonder that pride gave way to rage, if for a time? That her fury should burn out, is indeed a blessing in and of itself.
