Though she tries, it's made difficult by their older family members trying to keep Zoey away, preferring to pretend she doesn't exist. Sadly though her uncle's humanity did get him ostracized from the family for helping Zoey with a place to live, of which she feels guilt for, even if her estranged family is unreasonably awful.
