...so she asks me what it is I remember, but I have no words to give her. Before her there was nothing; no feelings of hot or cold, nor of pain or peace. Only when she touched me do I truly think I began to feel, a sensation so foreign yet familiar, wholesome and enveloping. My head against her shoulder, legs folded gently into the crook of her arm, she lifted me upwards. Upon ascending from the dirt, soil and worms and seeds still seasons from germinating clinging as tightly to her skin as she did to me, did I then notice the look on her face. In her eyes was a calm and gentle loving brightness, of which I will never be able to forget nor replace.

"Welcome to the world," she told me, the first words I'd ever heard. "Welcome back to life."
