Samuel Keating

While his age, abilities, and race differ by setting, there are a few constants that persist. Sam is always human, or human-ish.

Sam got his brown eyes from his mother, and he hopes his father sees her in them. His hair is a much lighter brown than hers, but it is wavy the same way, and Sam keeps it long out of spite. He stands about 5'5", and is limber and lightly muscular from his years of wrestling in high school.
Sam grew up without healing the wound of being taken away from his mother at a young age. His father was set in his ways, and secretive about why, overprotective and withdrawn. Their relationship spoiled quickly, and only eased when his father remarried and had another son. He grew to love his half-brother, but has always been one push away from a going over the edge, doubting authority and society deeply.

In his first setting, this push came from the voice of a very powerful and ancient entity speaking into his mind. It urged him to hunt, fight, and prove himself stronger than anyone else by violent, underhanded, and unfair means. Sam drank deeply of the entity's philosophy, internalized the view that the strong deserved whatever they could take by force. He descended into a double life, spending his days as a troubled but harmless young man, hiding the immoral, unethical sadist keen to push his own boundaries. Sam wasn't rash, but dropped any expectation of living past 20.
