A DISSAPOINTMENT
IN THE FAMILY

Naia had a great start in life. Actually, it was that of fairytales to be precise. Her mother, who had worked a promenade restaurant in California, had fallen in love with a handsome sailor in town for a few weeks, looking for a place to eat after his travels. Her mother was the one serving him, and he fell in love with her mother instantly - admiring her beautiful looks and her love of the ocean, much like himself. Together they had a single daughter, whom they named after the Naiads - Naia. Unlike most of the demi-gods, Naia had time with her father, though brief. She doesn't remember much, except for how gentle and kind he was with her.
Everything changed when he left them, as he had to go back to who he was and what his duties were as a god, and it left her mother heartbroken. She packed up all their things, and moved away from the californian coast, and to the cold north of Michigan. They spend a year alone, just the two of them - Naia was three, and all she remembers from the time was her mother hysterically crying everyday. Within a year of living in Michigan her mother fell in love with an entrepreneur who owned a giant mansion in the city that they lived in. He himself had an older son, and together later on they would get two daughters as well.

This was where things started to change. Naia never mattered in her step fathers eyes, she fueled his jealousy and reminded him that his wife had a child with someone she would always love more than him, and there for he treated Naia like she was thin air. But when her first younger sister was born, she started to become irrelevant to her mother as well. Naia was an extraordinary rider, and the older she got the closer to being that of an olympian rider she became. But it didn't matter to her parents, who told her it wasn't going to get her anywhere in life, that it didn't matter how much she achieved it was always going to be a silly hobby.
On top of this, she struggled with reading and writing in school, and both her sisters and parents never forgot to remind her that she was "stupid" because she couldn't read. They never bothered to hire a tutor for her that could help, instead her teacher would stay overtime just to help her keep up with everyone else in school.
At one point, when Naia had turned sixteen, she came home to her two horses having been sold and mother declaring that she needed to take Naia somewhere. She abandoned Naia at an empty house far away from home, where Naia first fully learned what her heritage meant. She found her way to Camp Jupiter per her instinct, and became a member of the fifth cohort and represented by the Praetor Joseph McKinnon. She never heard from her mother again, not even once, not even a single letter. Since then her family had been at Camp Jupiter and New Rome. -

|Hydrokinesis|Naia can control great volumes of water to a very high degree, lifting 10,000 gallons of water. She can dry herself and items (such as a lighter) underwater as long as she holds onto it, extract water from petrified seashells, create oxygen bubbles underwater for people who cannot breathe underwater, propel herself through water, summon waves that can easily sink ships, as well as control water in order to make it explode or use it to grab something.
Naia can harden water into an almost solid shape by increasing the surface tension of the water. Shee can use this power to walk on water and create a strong water shield. She can create water from her own power by summoning the "force of the ocean" inside of her as long as she concentrates hard enough, though it takes much of her energy for her to do so. When in contact with or in the presence of water, Naia gains a disproportionate amount of superhuman clarity, strength, speed, agility, and endurance.
|Heat Immunity|Naia has a far higher than normal resistance to heat and burns, similar to that of a Cyclops. She is capable of withstanding most normal temperatures, and could easily wear winter-clothes in the summer and not be affected by it. But more than that, she is also capable of withstanding extremely hot temperatures that goes as high as liquid lava.
|Atmokinesis|Naia has limited control over weather She can summon storms, such as miniature hurricanes. Former Neptune children, has made hurricanes that were powerful enough to extinguish the fires on Hyperion's body and leave the powerful Titan vulnerable to attack. However, Naia's control is limited and her power drains him over time.
