World Concept SciFi- ARC

Genre: Science Fiction
Technology Level: Mid/High Tech wide spread. Space travel, antigravity, limited terraforming. High technology such as cloning, bio-engineering, etc. are rumored and may exist in the universe on a smaller or undiscovered scale.
Magic Level: Widely considered not to exist. However stories abound of ghost ships and there are plenty of superstitions and stories about the paranormal, and so it may exist on some scale.
Combat: Highly likely and can range from space ship battles, to person on person conflicts.
Romance: Depends on the players involved. As a writer I'm a fan of romances personally.

Earth Coalition (EC): A group of planets originally settled by Earth. Although it has largely been comprised of humans, it has started to expand to include aliens.
Allied Reformation Corps. (ARC): A group answering to the EC tasked with finding and reclaiming those properties, people, and technology lost during the decline of the EC.
The Pirates Council: A group of pirate captains united for safety against larger threats. Each Captain governs his or her own fleet and planet(s) in accordance to the laws set down by the Council. Penalties for breaking the laws set down are harsh, and Captaincy is often passed down in families, often to the eldest male.

At one point, space travel was common. It had been the dawn of an era, the Golden Age of space exploration and colonization, when anything was
possible and the universe was open to the human race. Ships and stations were built on a massive scale, and money and resources flowed from the Earth Coalition on a massive scale. Investments they called it, with a guaranteed return in the form of land, new resources, territory and knowledge.

Unfortunately, that return never came. The money and resources ran out, and the Earth Coalition had to scale back, leaving hundreds of space ships, stations, and planets on their own in the vast expanse of space. In some cases, they just dropped off the radar completely, no incoming messages, no sign that they had received any messages sent to them. In other cases, they tried desperately to keep their ties to the Earth Coalition, and to some extent, some of them succeeded, in other cases the relationship only ended with desperate calls for help that would never come, and then radio silence, or notifications that they had no further interest in trying to maintain ties with the E.C.

That was… oh, perhaps three, four centuries ago. Some new deals had been formed with some aliens that were up for supporting a new Coalition, one that included both humans and aliens. An alliance would be beneficial to all concerned, especially when dealing with bigger threats. And so the E.C. had a new influx of funds, and a renewed interest in getting some of their lost property back. Which led to the formation of the Allied Reformation Corps, tasked with re-establishing contact with those properties that originated from the E.C., and reclamation of those same properties, or confirmation that those properties no longer existed.
