Lucien Lysander

The only child of King Regulus and Queen Iseult Lysander, Lucien has been primed from birth for his eventual ascension to the throne. Unsurprisingly, the young prince presented as an Alpha, continuing the traditional long-line of Alpha ancestors. The Lysander Clan has held the throne for decades, stretching back as far as anyone alive today could remember. There are whispers that once upon a time, their ancestors were able to magically shift into giant wolves but after numerous arranged marriages with those lacking the magic, their ability was slowly diluted to simply having wolf-like features before being bred out all together. This is now considered to be nothing but rumors; One that Lucien chooses not to believe. Lucien's childhood was filled with all the activities befitting a future king, such as lessons in diplomacy, battle strategy, hunting, and a range of weaponry training and fighting. Unfortunately, at the age of 13, Queen Iseult passed away from a sickness that took her quickly, ripping her away from her young son and leaving the young prince devastated. He had been exceptionally close to his mother, enjoying the times she spent playing with him in the gardens or reading to him at night. His wife's sudden passing also affected King Regulus greatly, so much so that the King pulled away from his son, burying himself in work to keep himself distracted from his grief. Lucien felt as if he had lost both of his parents. As he grew up and became of mating age, it became blatantly obvious that Omega scents had little-to-no effect on the princeling. Royal Physicians couldn't explain why, frustrating the King enough that he sent out an invitation to all eligible Omega suitors to come and visit Lucien, hoping that his son would eventually find one with an appealing scent but his efforts were for naught. No matter if they were male or female, Omegas - even in the middle of their heats - had no impact on the prince, save for being a source of annoyance. This continued for many years until his father gave in and ended the search, though he still sends out his son as the Kingdom's diplomatic representative just in case he meets someone on his travels. In addition to his diplomatic duties, Lucien also commands a faction of the kingdom's army, preferring to be on the front lines rather than sitting at home strategizing, which is a more active role than his father would like. His prowess in battle in addition to the legends of shifters in his family earned him the moniker, The Young Wolf - which his friends like to take the piss out of by calling him wolfpup, something he has begrudgingly come to accept.

Lucien is an amalgam of personality traits that have forged great kings of the past and simultaneously led to their falls from grace. Courageous, honourable and just, Lucien always strives to do the right thing by others even at cost of himself and his safety. He possesses great love for the people of his kingdom, viewing it as his responsibility to ensure their safety and well-being not only as the future king but as an Alpha – A belief he inherited from his mother who taught him from a young age that being an Alpha was less a blessing and rather an ever-present responsibility to ensure others were safe and not being taken advantage of, and to be a leader people could look to for guidance. He is stubborn when he believes he is right and is not hesitant to stand against opposition and argue his point, even against his father. This stubbornness extends to Lucien being willing to go against his father’s orders, preferring to accept punishment for his defiance rather than go along with plans that go against his values. It is difficult to sway him once he sets his mind to something. Lucien lacks patience at times and will get annoyed when someone goes against his orders, especially if he knows he is right, or someone he loves puts themselves in harm’s way. For all his compassion, Lucien did grow up as a member of royalty, with everything he could ever want within arm’s reach, and surrounded by people desperate to stay in the King’s good graces, so naturally his ego is quite inflated. Due to this, the young prince can be overly confident, arrogant, entitled and cocky. He is immensely proud of his excellent self-control, so much so that it comes across as having an holier-than-thou attitude. As much as he denies it, Lucien does enjoy the attention being on him. Completely used to people falling at his feet, Luce gets surprised whenever he meets someone, especially those of lower status, who do not immediately fall at his feet, singing his praises. Secretly, he finds it quite intriguing. Generally, however, the vast majority of people would describe Lucien as warm and friendly, witty and obviously intelligent, debonair, charming and charismatic - if a tad roguishly flirtatious. Only a rare few will ever get to experience the hidden depths of his personality. To those he is devoted to, Lucien is sweet, filled with boyish charm, playful and extremely affectionate. Lucien is overprotective of those he loves that it verges on being territorial and jealous. Loyalty is important to him – He’ll do anything for those he considers close to him, willing to risk his safety if it means protecting his loved ones. If his loyalty is betrayed, it’ll devastate him. He is secretly sensitive to things like that and does struggle with what some would label as abandonment issues. He harbors a fear of not being a great king, but one would never guess from how he carries himself. He is adept at hiding his insecurities. Lucien prides himself on his self-control, so much so that the very thought of being out control terrifies him. If Lucien was to ever lose said control, his whole world would be upturned; He would be significantly affected since he places a lot of his self-worth and identity on his ability. Despite his usually warm and pleasant disposition, Lucien does have a fiery temper and can, at times, become violent and aggressive, particularly when loved ones are threatened. If someone he loves is hurt, Lucien becomes quite ruthless and cruel when dealing with the perpetrator. In those situations, he definitely thinks with his heart rather than his head and will let his emotions rule him. It is very difficult to calm him down when he gets like that. Thankfully, that is a side to the young prince very few witness.

Likes

• Whether it be poetry or books of all genres, Lucien just adores reading, which sometimes comes as surprise to others, but it reminds him of his mother and their time spent together. He particularly loves fantastical stories filled with mythical creatures, great battles and adventure.
• Lucien loves practicing his fighting, trying to make sure he gets a training session in at least once a day. Whenever he is stressed or angry, he uses his practice fights as a chance to blow off steam though he will often go until he is exhausted, bruised and bloodied, ignoring other's concern or attempts to stop him until someone drags him away. His practices where he spars his guards often draw onlookers, and yes, he does show-off in them.
• Royal Balls and Galas, any excuse really to get dressed up, drink and socialize.
• His amazing self-control around Omegas. While his father may have treated it as a negative, Lucien loves that he isn't affected and is always in control of himself. It is a source of great pride for him.
• Strong, witty people. He'll never admit it but Lucien does like to be challenged and kept on his toes.
• Swimming - There is nothing better than jumping in the river or stream on a hot day after training.
• Horse-riding - Loves going out for quiet rides to help him think or challenging others to races.
• Drinking; Lucien is never one to turn down a drink, even if despite his stature, he is a bit of a lightweight.
• Music; He is talented at the piano, he used to love watching his mother play and would pester her until she gave in and taught him.
• Sex; Lucien has a very healthy sexual appetite - He is a red-blooded, young male after all. Just because he doesn't find the scent of an Omega attractive, doesn't mean he doesn't experience sexual attraction or go through ruts of his own, though they are quite mild and he is always in control of himself (Another fact he loves about himself). Lucien prefers the company of Betas, particularly males but is open to women as well, as he finds them more enjoyable to be around. He is genuinely more attracted to men but also prefers Beta male company since there is no risk of him accidentally impregnating one.
• Cuddling. Yep. The boy is a secret big-time lover of cuddling - Only with those he is closest to, however. If you are one of the exceptionally rare lucky few, you'll find Lucien resting his head on your thigh or in your lap, pulling you against him as he lays in bed or simply stretching out across you to keep you near him.
• Archery - Luce is a great shot, something he loves to show off in either practice, tournaments or out hunting.

Dislikes

• Being challenged by others, particularly other Alphas, in a non-friendly way.
• Advisor meetings where they all just squabble and never get any fucking work done. He grows tired of hearing it.
• People he loves/likes getting sick; It just reminds him of his mother dying which makes him very unsettled, often anxiously hovering around the ill person, being annoyingly-over helpful until they get well again. He hates that he doesn't exactly have control in that situation and is scared he'll be unable to do anything but watch as someone else he loves will be taken away from him in the same way as his mother.
• Hates being sick as well.
• Losing - Lucien hates losing due to his competitiveness.
• Anyone talking badly of those he is close to, particularly his mother.
• Although he loves cuddling those he is close with, Lucien dislikes being hugged or touched excessively by those he doesn't consider himself to be close with.
• Hates other Alpha's losing control - He has no tolerance for it or sympathy since he has never experienced it. It pisses him off because he feels like it gives Alphas a bad reputation ... but also doesn't believe it is as hard to fight as everyone says it is.
• Omegas. Prefers not to spend time around them since their heats can be irregular and frankly, it is annoying to him. He hates how a lot of them act on their heats, throwing themselves at anyone, which he seems to cop a lot. It might be different if he was actually attracted to their scent but alas, it is just irritating. So, Lucien avoids them as much as possible. Plus, he doesn't like how most get all timid and shy around Alphas. It makes him kinda uncomfortable.
