A B O U Tx B E T R A Y A L IS THAT IT NEVER COMES FROM YOUR ENEMIES Elian Marinus Roydon is the first-born child of Kerch merchant Bartholomeus Roydon and his young wife Sylvia. He grew up as Ketterdam royalty in the wealthy Zelver District, surrounded by guards, nursemaids and tutors seeing to his every need. His education commenced the very moment he spoke his first words, and he was taught everything from sword fighting to maths and economics to playing the piano and navigating social gatherings - he was, after all, the heir to a dynasty. Mere two years after his own birth a younger brother, Philip, followed suit. Being close in age the two boys grew up thick as thieves, and one was rarely spotted without the other in tow. They did everything together, and even though Elian was the one set to inherit the Roydon name and everything that came with it, Philip made an effort to see his brother through his studies, offering his aid and support whenever possible, and consolation if nothing else worked. They were a force of nature with Elian's wits and Philip's charisma, outsmarting and/or charming the competition and striking marvellous deals at the age of 17 and 15 respectively. But in spite of their shared passion for the trade, the two brothers did not always get along – far from it, in fact. Polarizing work ethics in combination with long hours at the office often lead to heated arguments between the two, which only grew more frequent as they turned into adults. Elian believed in patience, careful investments and maintaining a respectful reputation, whereas Philip was drawn by the thrill of making a quick fortune, not caring about the methodology or who he stepped on in the process. Disagreement led to resentment, and eventually their conflicting interest made it impossible for the two brothers to continue working as a unity. Philip was furious; his intentions of claiming his rightful share of the legacy was spoiled overnight when his older brother dismissed him due to his mercurial nature. Blinded by hatred and greed and obsessed with vengeance over his brother, Philip dived into the family archives in the hopes of finding legal support to his ownership of the company, but what he found was infinitely more destructive: Love letters addressed to their mother, sent from the Little Palace and dated 9 months prior to Elian’s birth.
"I trusted you, but now your words mean nothing
because your actions spoke the truth." – Unknown Philip took his sweet time plotting his revenge, savouring the prospect of what was to come. Taking on a king was not to be taken lightly, and so he made sure to take every precaution before letting the news of his mother's infidelity slip. By then Elian's education was almost at an end and he was set and ready in mind, body and soul to overtake the Roydon name and responsibilities from his father when the time came. He was happily betrothed to the noble Maryse de Vries, and the pair was already planning on producing heirs of their own. For a short while everything was pure bliss in the soon to be Roydon household, which made his downfall all the more sudden and devastating. Word travels fast in Ketterdam, gossip and speculation amongst men even more so, and it took no more than a few hours for the news of Elian Roydon's bastard status to reach the ears of the Kerch nobility. Elian himself found out from his betrothed, whom had been confronted with the rumour during a stroll with her friends, and ran straight home afterwards to clear things up. 'Is it true?' She demanded to know, and rightfully so, but Elian did not have the required knowledge to either confirm or deny what was being whispered about him. He assured her, that he knew nothing of it, but his begging and apologies lost all value as soon as the printed copies of his mother's love letters made the morning newspapers. His mother having an affair, and with a Grisha of all people, sounded absurd to him, but he could not deny the sheer passion between Sylvia and the man now rumoured to be his biological father - which did not only make him half Ravkan, but potentially Grisha as well. His father was furious, banning his wife from the grounds and stripping Elian of all rights and titles, not bothering to hear the explanation of neither wife nor son. The rumours surrounding the family was enough for him to take preserving actions to protect the family name. Love lost in a matter of seconds. He was allowed one hour to pack his belongings and leave the estate or his father would call the stadwatch upon him, and so there was nothing for him to do but to leave his childhood home and the future he had laboured for since birth. His pending marriage ended just as abruptly a few days later: Maryse's father sent an emisary to Elian's meagre lodgings, informing him that the engagement was to be terminated and all rights to his daughter's hand in marriage withdrawn. He was never to see his betrothed again. Desperate for a kindred spirit in the midst of all the chaos, he spent weeks and a good amount of his sparse funds searching for his mother, eventually realizing she had returned to Ravka and her foreign lover the second his father let her go. She never looked back, never cared to reach out to her lovechild, never even considered how her indiscretions reflected back on him and left him just as ruined as her if not more so. He was alone with no one to turn to, a shattered reputation weighing him down and nothing but his wits to keep him alive in Ketterdam, but he made do. For a while.
"I was once a man, not a great man, not a saintly
man, but a good man, and a man nonetheless." – Barbara T. Cerny Due to the hateful nature of his rumoured Grisha heritage, the people of Ketterdam made sure to keep Elian at arm's length. Suddenly he wasn't just resented and frowned upon, but feared and avoided, making it nearly impossible for him to find honest work. It was all he could do to stay off the streets, all the while his younger brother lead the Roydon household like he had been born to do it. And that had been Philip's intentions all along. The realization hurt more than his bastard heritage, his parents turning their backs on him and his ruined marriage, because Philip knew him and ruthlessly exploited a weakness Elian didn't even know he had - in spite of having made a promise to always stand by him (and vice versa). How much of his brothers support and concern had been lies? It did not matter, because what was left of his benevolence towards his younger brother had now dissolved into nothing, replaced by bitternes, incandescent hate and an insatiable thirst for vengeance. Little did he know, the means to getting said vengeance had been in his grasp all along. But alas, Elian was unaware of his affinities for the Small Science, a genetic gift from his biological father, before his first encounter with jurda parem, which, ironically, altered his Grisha-powers before he even got to be familiar with them. He always seemed to have a way with people, to make them listen or feel at ease in his presence, but he thought nothing of it. Neither did he spare it much thought as the drug coursed through his veins and made him feel like a living god, suddenly able to hear the rattling of bones or the whispers of those having long passed away. Nothing could compare to the thrill of being able to manipulate the dead, and whilst he got acquainted with his newfound powers, he made a vow to one day have his brother's corpse dance across his fathers front lawn like a grotesque marionette. But before that could happen, he had a long and demanding climb to make from the bottom of his parem-addiction - an accidental experience, that nearly cost him his life and gave him newfound purpose all at once. |

Extroverted· Observant· Thinking· Judging Executives are representatives of tradition and order, utilizing their understanding of what is right, wrong and socially acceptable to bring families and communities together. Embracing the values of honesty, dedication and dignity, people with the Executive personality type are valued for their clear advice and guidance, and they happily lead the way on difficult paths. Taking pride in bringing people together, Executives often take on roles as community organizers, working hard to bring everyone together in celebration of cherished local events, or in defense of the traditional values that hold families and communities together. Strong believers in the rule of law and authority that must be earned, Executive personalities lead by example, demonstrating dedication and purposeful honesty, and an utter rejection of laziness and cheating, especially in work. If anyone declares hard, manual work to be an excellent way to build character, it is Executives. Executives are aware of their surroundings and live in a world of clear, verifiable facts – the surety of their knowledge means that even against heavy resistance, they stick to their principles and push an unclouded vision of what is and is not acceptable. Their opinions aren't just empty talk either, as Executives are more than willing to dive into the most challenging projects, improving action plans and sorting details along the way, making even the most complicated tasks seem easy and approachable. However, Executives do not work alone, and they expect their reliability and work ethic to be reciprocated – people with this personality type meet their promises, and if partners or subordinates jeopardize them through incompetence or laziness, or worse still, dishonesty, they do not hesitate to show their wrath. This can earn them a reputation for inflexibility, a trait shared by all Sentinel personalities, but it is not because Executives are arbitrarily stubborn, but rather because they truly believe that these values are what make society work. The main challenge for Executives is to recognize that not everyone follows the same path or contributes in the same way. A true leader recognizes the strength of the individual, as well as that of the group, and helps bring those individuals' ideas to the table. That way, Executives really do have all the facts, and are able to lead the charge in directions that work for everyone. |
|
STRENGTHS Dedicated ✠ Seeing things to completion borders on an ethical obligation for Executives. Tasks aren't simply abandoned because they have become difficult or boring – people with the Executive personality type take them up when they are the right thing to do, and they will be finished so long as they remain the right thing to do. Strong-willed ✠ A strong will makes this dedication possible, and Executives do not give up their beliefs because of simple opposition. Executives defend their ideas and principles relentlessly, and must be proven clearly and conclusively wrong for their stance to budge. Direct and honest ✠ Executives trust facts far more than abstract ideas or opinions. Straightforward statements and information are king, and Executive personalities return the honesty (whether it is wanted or not). Loyal, patient and reliable ✠ Executives work to exemplify truthfulness and reliability, considering stability and security very important. When Executives say they intend to do something, they keep their word, making them very responsible members of their families, companies and communities. Enjoy creating order ✠ Chaos makes things unpredictable, and unpredictable things cannot be trusted when they are needed most – with this in mind, Executives strive to create order and security in their environments by establishing rules, structures and clear roles. |
WEAKNESSES Inflexible and stubborn ✠ The problem with being so fixated on what works is that Executives too often dismiss what might work better. Everything is opinion until proven, and Executive personalities are reluctant to trust an opinion long enough for it to have that chance. Difficult to relax ✠ This need for respect fosters a need to maintain their dignity, which can make it difficult to cut loose and relax for risk of looking the fool, even in good fun. Judgmental ✠ Executives have strong convictions about what is right, wrong, and socially acceptable. Executives' compulsion to create order often extends to all things and everyone, ignoring the possibility that there are two right ways to get things done. Executives do not hesitate to let these 'deviants' know what they think, considering it their duty to set things right. Overly focused on social status ✠ Executives take pride in the respect of their friends, subordinates and community and while difficult to admit, are very concerned with public opinion. Executives (especially Turbulent ones) can get so caught up in meeting others' expectations that they fail to address their own needs. Difficulty expressing emotion ✠ This is all evidence of Executives' greatest weaknesses: Expressing emotions and feeling empathy. People with the Executive personality type get so caught up in the facts and most effective methods that they forget to think of what makes others happy, or of their sensitivity. A detour can be breathtakingly beautiful, a joy for the family, but Executives may only see the consequence of arriving at their destination an hour late, hurting their loved ones by rejecting the notion too harshly. |
Aquarius is the eleventh astrological sign in the Zodiac. It is found in a region often called the Sea due to its profusion of constellations with watery associations such as Cetus the whale, Pisces the fish, and Eridanus the river. The water carrier represented by the zodiacal constellation Aquarius is Ganymede, a beautiful Phrygian youth. The king of gods, Jupiter, became enamored of the boy and flew down to the mountain in the form of a large bird, whisking Ganymede away to the heavens. Ever since, the boy has served as a cupbearer to the gods. |

The Aquarius man finds himself being influenced by Saturn, the stern taskmaster, which is why he is full of brilliant plans and concepts. He will push boundaries and holds tight to the strengths of his own mind. He is both intelligent and imaginative, a passionate believer in his own ideas. There is no force more powerful than a man determined to succeed, and the Aquarius man has high standards for his life. It is his passion that draws you in. It is his greatest quality. A true asset. This man is both original and inventive, at one time, in one movement. He will stand by his beliefs and guard his ideals with his life. He is happiest when surrounded by others and seeks to set them free of their prejudices and superficial behaviours. He is sociable, both a good listener and a great speaker. He brings out your best, makes you a better person. He is a teacher. This is a man who wakes up with purpose. He is clever, gifted even, but he is more than that. He is one of a kind. This man is so full of fire. He is dependable. Confident. A fighter, a believer. He will fight until he is out of breath, and that is his magic. |

|CORPORALKI|
Corporalki, or the Order of the Living and the Dead, are Grisha whose power focuses on the human body. The Order is divided into three groups: Heartrenders, Healers, and Tailors.
|
Heartrenders are Grisha of the Corporalki order. They can use their power to damage a person's internal organs. They are feared by other Grisha and considered the most valuable soldiers. In the Second Army they wear red kefta with black embroidery.Heartrenders manipulate the body on a molecular level, usually with harmful affects. Their ability ranges from slowing a person's pulse to snatching the air from their lungs, but the target must always be in their line of sight.
|CORPSE MAGIC|
Corpse magic is a sub-power that manifests after a Grisha Heartrender has been under the influence of Jurda Parem. The drug seemingly elevates and alters the Grisha's abilities from manipulation of the living to manipulation of the dead. The corpse magic allows the Grisha to control human remains such as dead bodies, bones or even cells, which once belonged to the living, controlling them as he pleases.
|LIMITATIONS|
Like any Grisha, the user of corpse magic must be able to use and move his hands in order to use his abilities. Furthermore, the altered Heartrender abilities does not allow the user to raise the dead, nor induce death. Such phenomena has only been observed from the hands of Grisha under the influence of Parem (which is known to be toxic in large dosis), and the efforts from such unnatural work usually takes everything out of the Grisha, leaving them dead or on the very brink of death. No, the powers of a corpsemagician are limited to manipulating what has already passed away. |
