◖BIRTH NAME◗ Aleksandar Charmichael. ◖NICKNAME◗ Everyone calls him Ace. If you refer to him in any other way, especially Aleksandar, he will most likely punch you unconscious. Most people are not aware that his name is not Ace. ◖BIRTH DATE◗ 29th April. ◖AGE◗ 31 years old. ◖ZODIAC◗ Taurus. ◖NATIONALITY◗ American. ◖OCCUPATION◗ Winner of the 61st Hunger Games and mentor. ◖RESIDENCE◗ District 4, Panem. ◖RACE◗ Human. |
◖HEIGHT◗ 1,91 m. ◖BODY TYPE◗ Athletic and muscular, his muscular structure being rather well-defined. It is very clear that he has been a swimmer all of his life. ◖EYES◗ A deep, dark brown. ◖HAIR◗ A very dark brown that even looks black at times. ◖COMPLEXION◗ Slightly tanned, as if he spends most hours outside. ◖TATTOOS◗ He has a few, all from after his victory. ◖SCARS◗ Plenty. Too many to list. ◖HANDEDNESS◗ Right-handed, but quite capable with the left as well. ◖SEXUALITY◗ He identifies as straight, but also really doesn't care. Whatever presents itself. ◖RELATIONSHIP STATUS◗ Fucks what he wants whenever he feels like it, whatever you'd call that. |
◖STRENGTHS◗ Physically rather strong and a scary fighter, a strong swimmer, being able to keep his breath for an intense amount of time, a skilled weapons' wielder, the spear being his forte, responsible and steadfast, protective of others, a natural survival instinct and knowledge when it comes to surviving, focused and goal oriented, willing to do more or less anything to achieve that goal, direct in his manner of speaking, no games with him. ◖WEAKNESSES◗ He suffers from PTSD from what he went through during the games, which is still affecting his life in an almost suffocating manner, he struggles with alcohol as his main distraction, he is withdrawn and angry, comes across incredibly bitter, cranky, and short-tempered, especially because he is so no bullshit in his attitude, prefers not to have company and will clearly let you know that he doesn't like your company, emotionally withdrawn. ◖LIKES◗ Fishing and hunting, swimming, diving, and being near the water, if not in it, as it calms him. He enjoys solitude, while his enjoyment of alcohol is probably unhealthy at this point ― it's not so much as a love of it as much as it's a good coping mechanism ― staying out by the water at night and just watching the moonlight on the surface, bonfires, his home. ◖DISLIKES◗ While he enjoys nature, he does have issues with sleeping outside, just like sleeping is definitely not something that he likes, he doesn't like company and larger groups are definitely worse, he hates the games and the Capitol with all of his heart. He dislikes being told what to do and the feeling of being caught and pushed into a corner. He also has a long list of specific people he cannot stand. ◖FACECLAIM◗ Tom Ellis. |

WINNING IS POINTLESS
WHEN THE PRIZE IS THRALLDOM ________________ Ace Carmichael was born in District 4, Panem, in the year of the 44th Hunger Games as the firstborn to the young couple of Stefan and Mila Carmichael. They had always wanted children, even if it would ensure them at least seven years of agony and waiting. They wanted a family, someone to pass on their legacy to, since Stefan was a well-known fisherman in charge of a large portion of the fishing done in the area that they lived. Someone needed to take over that leadership and having a son was absolutely perfect. He was soon followed by yet another boy, Jovan, and a few years after that they were surprised by a third son, Darko. All boys were raised in the water, more or less. They spent all possible hours either on a boat or swimming, the sea being more of a home than the one that their parents had created for them. They lived well, not extremely rich, but not poor either, simply comfortable with life as it was. Ace was always the strongest of the three ― he excelled not only as a fisherman, but as a swimmer, and he proved to have little fear, even when faced with the dangers that lurked in the dark. He would always have his brothers' back, though they were capable in their own right as well. As soon as they could, they would start working for their dad instead of simply fooling around in the water, helping not only to bring food to the table, but money as well. Not only was he the strongest, he was by far the most responsible, but no one was surprised, deeming him to be a true "oldest brother" of the lot. He never minded it much, as he was more concerned with taking care of those around him than anything. Of course, there was the yearly reaping, but it soon became nothing more than an event that had to pass every year. Even if it followed with a certain amount of anxiety, his name was not pulled, so even if the odds became less and less in his favour as he grew older, he chose to place his worry on other more certain problems that he could actually fix. At 17, his luck ran out and he was pulled as the male tribute for the 61st Hunger Games. To begin with, he didn't react much. He followed along without really comprehending what was about to happen, as everyone around him slowly fell apart. The oldest son, the one to carry the others, the strongest and most capable, sent to his death. He was not a Career and while he was physically capable, he had never fought another person in head-to-head battle, let alone to death. Nonetheless, he had no choice. He was not a certain favourite, got a few sponsors as he was the sure favourite of District 4. Even when he scored a 9 on the training score based on his weapon skills and physical strength, he was not labelled a contender for the victory, even if he was certainly a threat to some of the Careers, not even some of the normal tributes. The worst part was the lack of water in his arena, rocks and cliffs dominating it, since water would have given him a major advantage. Instead, he had to rely on his hunting skills and somehow turn off his brotherly instincts. He struggled with the latter, not wanting to take the life of another human, but as his female half was pushed off a cliff by one of the members of their so-called alliance right in front of him, it did something to him. It did not take long before he bashed in the head of the last standing tribute besides himself, having not only grown to be a favourite, but having sealed his own fate. He lived, but at what cost? He had no interest in the fame, he had no interest in the money, the house, the gazes, the Capitol especially. He did what he had to, but he just wanted to go back home, go back to normal. As he returned, he learnt that not only was he permanently scarred on both body and soul, his family would never be the same either. His father was nowhere to be found, presumed lost at sea, while his mother had passed from a short-term, but highly aggressive illness. Now, only he could take care of his brothers and so he did, even if he couldn't do it to the same capacity as before. He couldn't go fish, he couldn't do much for the first year or so, mainly just sitting around and drinking, staring at the water, trying not to fall asleep, since the memories would wake up within his nightmares. A year passed, another reaping ― another nightmare began. While he didn't think life could get worse, his youngest brother's name was called. All he could do was to turn to the other brother in the hopes that he at least would spare that of the youngest, the one who surely would die in the game; but nothing happened. And he could do nothing. Darko was the male tribute for District 4 and all he could do was watch him get killed. He didn't watch the game, but his brother didn't make it. He had no interest in seeing Jovan ever again. He just drank, did everything to numb all that around him. For the following Hunger Games, at just 19, he became a mentor for the District 4 tributes, more or less forced, but he didn't care. He didn't want to be around people and now he had to witness other people die and somehow still get blamed for it. He did well, even got himself a winner, but the satisfaction is only brief when you're mentoring children to go die. He has since mentored a few since, but mainly stayed out as much as the Capitol allows him to, which unfortunately is not as much as he would hope. His hatred for the Capitol is truly the only thing that fuels him. Not necessarily because they took his life away, but because they took his brother's, someone who did not stand a chance. He hates it with all of his heart. |
○ B R O T H E R L Y
adj. | broth·er·ly Showing affection and concern; affectionate, like a brother. Ace's brotherly affection is one of his biggest and most throughout traits, even if he has done his utmost to restrain it the last many years. He has no time for affection and empathy towards others, but it happens, even if he doesn't want it. He just ignores it and won't let anyone else know about it, but he often cares greatly about others, especially those youngers than him, taking them on like family that he has to protect and take care of. He likes taking care of others honestly, even if he doesn't like mentioning it, not even others mentioning it. If he cooks you breakfast, don't say anything, just eat it and appreciate it silently. This also goes for saving your life, of course. |
○ D I R E C T
adj. | di·rect Free in expressing one's true feelings and opinions. Ace tells it like it is. Yes, he'll easily keep a secret, but if he has something to say, he'll let you know. He truly is a no-bullshit kind of guy and he hates beating around the bush. He doesn't have time for it, he never had and it got even worse after his time in the arena. If there's no word for it, he'll probably just punch you, that works well too. He doesn't necessarily want to take the physical route, he would prefer to stay out of violence until it's the last solution, but sometimes it really is the only way. Some people won't understand it even if it's said directly to them, so they need a fist in the face. He'll just do whatever it takes. |
○ D E T A C H E D
adj. | de·tached Having or showing a lack of friendliness or interest in others. Besides the extreme amount of PTSD, detachment from others is what the Games gave Ace. He does not want to get close to people. Yes, he might feel a brotherly affection towards quite a good selection of people, but he really tries not to. He truly does not want to form a bond to anyone and he forcefully stays distant from others because of this. Physical distance really makes it much easier, so he prefers to just stay alone, all by himself, no company at all. |
○ B I T T E R
adj. | bit·ter Having or showing deep-seated resentment. Ace is full of bitterness and resentment, mainly towards the Capitol. It fills him, it is what drives him, probably the only thing that might get him out of his nothingness and drinking, it's what make him care. He often let's it overpower him, though, especially when he feels like he cannot do anything. He mainly feels angry at times, keeping the intense bitterness at bay and simply staying mildly angry at all times instead. |
