Melo drifted apart from his family at the age of 16, when he flunked out of high school and moved across the country to live with his aunt. From there, he split his time between farm work and trade school, never really knowing what he planned to do once he was on his own. He's had his share of bad relationships for his age, along with a string of unrelated part-time jobs, only recently coming to settle as the new maintenance guy for his apartment complex.

Mel still has no idea what he wants to do with his life. Maybe start a community garden? In the meantime, he's happy to play fixer-upper for other people while he decides how he's going to help himself.
