Ikari is a Korean-American man whose first name comes from the Japanese kanji meaning "Anger", which his mother never let him forget. Born in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, his family moved to a small town in Central America just before he turned three. When he was seven his father unfortunately passed away, leaving the young boy alone with no one but his mother, who would have been just as happy not having a son.

His father's death paved the way for abuse in many forms to befall the boy, including beatings for being too loud, or taking too long to do a task. Ha-eun Park was never a particularly warm person, but at the loss of her husband, something inside of her seemed to snap, and now the object of all of her rage and displeasure was her only son.

Around thirteen Ikari began to develop anger management issues, primarily directed toward himself, but on rare occasions he would lash out at others. Fifteen rolls around and he gets pulled into the 'bad crowd' around his school. Immediately after being accepted into their group he began acting out. He would no longer try to control his anger and outbursts, going so far as to preform whatever abuse his mother did to him, on weaker children at school. Soon enough though things started to escalate, and at eighteen Ikari graduated highschool, and at the same time, graduated onto 'big boy crimes'. He was arrested a total of 9 times before his nineteenth birthday; the day he considers to be his Freedom Day.

On his nineteenth birthday his mother was in a fatal car accident, leaving her son with a $40,000 life insurance payout, a decrepit home with barely a leg left to stand on, and more mental health issues than he was ever really equipped to deal with. At twenty-one he got his first girlfriend; a twenty year old woman by the name of Melissa Garrett. At first, everything between them was as good as good could be. He was in love. For Melissa, Ikari left his life of crime behind him and even started going to therapy in order to deal with the trauma he suffered in his adolescence and teenage years. He made tremendous progress during the two years they were together; until it all came crashing down.

Ikari found out the hard way that Melissa had been cheating on him with a man she worked with. He walked in on them together one day at Melissa's apartment, turned around to walk out, and never looked back. In an instant, every step forward the man had made was null and void, and yet... He also couldn't bring himself to go back to that world of drugs and crime. This left him as a shell of who he had the potential to be, especially after discovering that the only reason Melissa had agreed to be with him in the first place, was because she was afraid of him.

This experience caused him to close himself off entirely from others, though did develop a certain soft spot for disabled, underprivileged, or otherwise marginalized youth thanks to the close, almost mentor-like role he'd taken in her younger sister's life. This is what made him decide to open a community youth center on his twenty-fifth birthday using the money his mother left behind. He got himself an entry-level job at a local export company which he uses the wages from that plus charitable donations from the community to keep the Center up and running; living in a locked room on the upper level.
