GENERAL |NAME| Gregory "Greg" Lestrade |NICKNAMES| A vast assortment of misnomenclatures via Sherlock Holmes, Bulldog, The Scotland Yard, 'Not our Division', Get-Holmes-on-the-Phone, Sherlock's Wrangler, The Trainer, Plainclothes, The Met |D.O.B.| January 5th (Capricorn) |BIRTHPLACE| Somerset, UK with a working-class upbringing. Greg spent a vast majority of his time on the streets learning of the world's struggle. He observed, in particular, the downsides of addiction which affected Greg most of all due to an older brother's overdose and imminent demise. He abhorred drugs and the use thereof, and while he wanted to make a change for the better in that regard, Greg found himself moving up the ranks in Scotland Yard with his focus on the homicide division. Either way, his dream to set the world right was in progress. |PERSONALITY TYPE| ESTJ | Enneagram Type 6 |APPARENT AGE| Early 40s |SPECIES| Human |NATIONALITY| British |GENDER| Male |SEXUALITY| Heteroflexible |RELATIONSHIP| Divorced and jaded as hell at the moment... |

PHYSICAL |HEIGHT| 1.8 m (5′ 11″) |WEIGHT| 77.1 kg (170 lbs) |BUILD| Hale and hardy due to his years of service with chiseled, fine-boned features. He is broad-shouldered with an upright, military stance, and worn about the edges from extensive use. Greg bears an otherwise above-average figure for a man his age, one of which, however, threatens to falter from his constant abuse and misuse; a thoroughbred policeman's build. |SKIN| Greg's skin bore a weathered look, haggard by the sun with wrinkles about the eyes and creases that drew aged lines in prominent spaces of expression. Goldened through the years, flecked with scars and experience, he held an otherwise healthy glow despite the occasionally lightened pallor from the intermittent sleepless nights. |SCARS| There are many and each tells a different story in its own right. If inquired, Greg can likely recall every last one of them to a degree, but nothing notable stands out to him, unremarkable in that they're all for the sake of his sworn duty. |EYES| Soulful, deep brown, with an expressive wide-eyed curiosity, that he's held onto since childhood. There is an inexplicable kindness to them, the hardwood inspection sympathetic, understanding, and faintly disconsolate. The fixed, bister gaze is tainted by exhaustion, hardened by the many unspoken horrors they have had to endure. |HAIR| Silvered due to age and experience and cropped in varying bristled spikes about his head as not to interfere with his line of sight. Otherwise wispy and well-kept, Greg is capable of maintaining it should he feel it necessary to put in the actual effort. |SCENT| Greg sports an emanation of cheap coffee, tobacco, wood, and wood tars. He occasionally alludes to the puissance of leather, though nothing too complex, and he bears a smoky, dryness of someone who doesn't have a lot of extra time. |VOICE| “Mockney” accent; his language is predominantly free of street-slang, yet he is fluent ever the same. He bears an estuary lilt commonly heard in Essex and the Eastern outskirts of London. Gruff and authoritative, the tone carries a leader's edge, with an orotund, professional force to be reckoned with.
"The greatest want of the world is the want of men - men who will not be bought or sold; men who in their inmost souls are true and honest; men who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole; men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall."

PERSONALITY |DEFINING TRAITS| Greg Lestrade is the stereotypical good boy who is stern, but fair and not afraid to tell the truth even if it is unkind. He is massively overprotective of the people closest to him with a father's mentality, and he will disregard rules and regulations for their safety. Greg is deemed a leader among his peers, able to make principled decisions, and yet is also willing to step back and allow others to take charge if it is for the benefit overall. Rather than being offended, Greg has enough humility to let situations be as they are if it is within everyone's best interests. Greg excels in making the difficult choices, which he has had his fair share of, and is a good judge of character. He asserts his trust in his instincts, which can be a fault, but he does apply his vast knowledge in the field and is constantly learning something new from his confidant and private consultant. London dangers were the privilege of the London force. |TEMPERAMENT| Long Suffering and patient to a fault, Greg has an enduring fortitude and will only have an outburst once he's reached the end of his tolerance, particularly where Sherlock Holmes is concerned. Despite his jaded outlook on most relationships, he lives through his compassion and empathy for others and can sometimes be too generous. He is occasionally passive and far too lenient with a few of his subordinates -- Sherlock in particular -- and it is easy for some people to take advantage of his good nature. On the flip side, however, Lestrade has a tendency to make judgments too quickly, is vastly opposed to change, and is unimaginative in his deductions on the enterprising ways criminals work. Greg also has a boiling point with his temper that rears its ferocity when reaching the end of his tether. He was forgiving, but by no means a fool, and it didn’t take much to make Lestrade react, and sometimes react explosively, but it took a lot for him to be unforgiving. |INTELLIGENCE| The pick of a bad lot with intellectual merits of an official who had a clear view of himself, his role and responsibility in society, and valuing that of justice and truth above all else. Greg uses his considerable energies to serve and protect and though he is no Sherlock Holmes, Lestrade is one whose opinion and advice are commendable. He is a worthy collaborator who applies his rationale to any given situation, just as he does with all of his cases. He is deferent to a point, yet conveys a sense of mindful stealth and theories of a reasoner beyond that of the practical man. Greg, like Dr. John Watson, is a liaison between genius and the commonality, the acting arbitrator specifically to a certain unruly consulting detective. He is seasoned, streetwise, and can read a room to the point of blending in, savvy in the ways of how the world works around him, but not entirely urbane. His allegiance radiates a nationalistic pride and stolidity, intuition, and sensibility a driving force, but Lestrade was capable of scathing retorts and his own brand of skepticism. He oftentimes challenged Sherlock’s line of thought, but he was willing to listen, eagerly learning how to become more competent rather than shirking new knowledge for the sake of his already well-established reputation. |PRIORITIES| “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” |ACCESSORIES| Detective Inspector Lestrade is a prepared official of the law, ready and raring for any possibility he can imagine. And therein lie his limitations, for Greg cannot imagine everything, particularly any case involving Sherlock Holmes. He typically carries all the accouterments expected of a high-ranking London Metropolitan Police officer which basically amounts to his work cell, a network of connections at his beck and call, and the many favors owed to him with which to dispense at his leisure or much to his chagrin. Everything else? "Shit bricks and call the SCO-19."
"The truth is rarely pure
and never simple." |

FAMILIAL |PARENTS| Philip Anders Lestrade (Deceased); Gillian May Stuart |SIBLINGS| Amyas Finn Lestrade (Deceased) |WEALTH| The Lestrades did not hail from descendants of wealth, inheritance, squires, or the like -- at least not as far as Greg knows. Every farthing was meticulously earned through hardship and an honest living. Proletariat through and through, Greg understood the expectations to make a living from a very young age. His family was members of the working class, knowing full and well that there will always be times of financial struggle. Despite his current, upper-ranking designation, Greg still abides by the notion that his earnings are meager, and he maintains a dedicated frugal nature. And yet, the detective inspector is aware that he is a lot better off than his family ever was. He will oftentimes send money to Gabbi for whatever she might need, hopeful that she will never understand what it's like to go without. |CHILDREN| Gabrielle "Gabbi" Ann Lestrade |EDUCATION| While he does not have any outstanding academic achievements to his name, Greg excels in his current field of work for his caliber of intellect. He is fairly well composed with a complete schooling and eventual advanced study in criminology. He transcended his peers in his Certificate of Knowledge in Policing, and due to his exceptional legwork, came up through the records bureau that ultimately earned him the established position within Scotland Yard. Greg is augmented by his time working the streets of London both in his youth and on the force. He is also fluent in shorthand. |OCCUPATION| Detective Inspector of Scotland Yard, the designated and unofficial public speaker and P.R. of the London Metropolitan Police, lead CID (Criminal Investigation Department) official over the Met's Homicide Division & Serious Crimes Command, and Holmes whisperer. |ALIGNMENT| Lawful Good(ish) |
