      *Whistle innocently after throwing a snowball at a law enforcer? That was for amateurs.
      Pretend to have also been pelted at the same time as a law enforcer? THAT was how professionals did 'unsuspecting'!

        "Minding his own as he always did, the unsuspecting Greg Lestrade had a destination in mind. He never once expected to be struck by a snowball in the back while on his way to work. However, it happened, and the detective inspector whirled about to survey his surroundings. He then noted another innocent victim voicing their disdain over their own icy mishap and dropped his search almost immediately.

        Said law enforcer smiled good-naturedly and while this was hardly any fault of his own, offered his sincerest apologies. "Ah, sorry about that. Seems like someone gave into their invasive thoughts. Sometimes it can't be helped. Hope you're alright there."

        Lestrade gave the area one final good look before offering the other a defeated shrug. "Your guess is about as good as mine." And just like that, he was off again, a dutiful public servant and innocent bystander all in one."

          "Wearing a mask was of great use in many a circumstance. Now, for example, nothing betrayed that she was chuckling softly at how well her surprise snowball and act had tricked the law enforcer. Hearing him address her she turned as if just then reakixing she had nit been the only "victim", gave him a blank stare and then snorted. A guffawk more like, but again, with a mask muffling sounds it was impossible to ssy which was which... "This is the _respect_ for authorities? Even a _cop_?" Feigning to be upset for what had befallen the cop - if Badzooka could hear her now! - Cris shook her head in the most paternalistic and boomer way - if Mixie could see her now! - and just shrugged her shoulders. "People kill boredom in the weirdest ways, eh?"

          And yet, the way je apologized despite not actually being at fault of anything (except for naivety, maybe) and looked around to frame their "attacker" was... almost endearing. Even if she had always been too much of a free spirit to really get along with police - even now that they technically were on the same side of the law - somewhat the sardonic, prankish light in her eyes softened just so slightly.

          There weren't that much laughs to be had at throwing snowballs at what seemed to be a good devil, after all.

          "Can I offer you a coffee?" she called after Lestrade as he started to leave. Maybe it was an effect of the winter atmosphere, but sometimes, albeit rarely there could be some sort of camaraderie even between a law enforcer and an ex-pirate-turned-vigilante.

          Or maybe it was just the Raygun way of apologizing for a little prank in good humor that was never going to be found out. Who had ssid that an ex-pirate could not have a coscience?"

            "The mask did indeed hide all intentions, yet Gregory always liked to look at the best qualities in a person, never once suspecting that Cris had been the actual perpetrator. Her jump to his defense caused the man to turn and indulge her with yet another twinkling expression.

            "It's fine, really. 'Tis the season, I guess," he laughed charitably. "At least it's snowballs. Could be worse."

            The offer for coffee from a complete stranger threw the detective inspector off guard a bit. Perhaps it was a consolation for both having suffered someone else's snowy wrath, or perhaps it was fate. Either way, he gave Cris a considering look before shaking his head in a genuine gesture of declination.

            "That's all right. I appreciate it, but I'm runnin' a little late and I don't want to give 'em anymore reason to chew my hide," he appeared somewhat sheepish. "But hey, thanks though, and if you see anyone throwing anymore snowballs feel free to get 'em back. And do one for me."

            Greg then winked at Cris as he moved along, a glimmer of a boyish prankster shone behind a whiskey brown gaze. "Give 'em hell.""

              "Cris had to refrain from giggling at the irony pf the situation and the officer's good faith. Even asking her to "avenge" both of them ? Bless his soul!

              Her eyes brimmed with laughs, this time sympathethic and good natured. "How I understand you, job never rests!..
              Or not as much as people would need it to", she chuckled, wavimg off his thanks. "Heh, for nothing. Good luck!... and you can bet I'll keep an eye out. What they sayin this time of the year? Ho ho ho!", she concluded with a cheerful laugh as she tirned to leave.

              Keep an eye out was as good a description of her vigilante work as any. And who knew - maybe she *could* recycle it as an excuse if any night-patrol police car complained about a civilian interfering with the Law.

              'Look, agents, I'm telling you an officer, a colleague of yours, told me ti keep an eye out and give hell to culprits. Really! I am authorized!' That was a new one she couldn't wait to try!"
