Personality
He's the stereotypical strong, but silent type, and often appears to have a permanent scowl etched onto his face. He has a certain charm and wit that many find innocent and disarming on the surface, but often carries with it slightly threatening undertones that leave a vague sense of unease. Whenever he makes jokes about threats of violence or harm, you're never quite sure if he's being serious, or just ribbing on you to get a reaction. On the flip side, he's also fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares for, and will do anything to keep them safe. His rough exterior belies the hidden hopeless romantic he's always been, but is too guarded to let anyone see that side of him.


Appearance
Tall and imposing was his figure, barrel-chested and a mountain of muscle; he towered over those around him, and his sheer size dwarfed the average man. Coarse black fur covered his limbs and torso, with noticeably less across his face and chest. A thick beard stretched across his wide jaw and stony expression, with silver streaks peppered across his chin. Matching hair was pulled back into a loose, messy bun of dreads, with several streaks of platinum tucked into the fray.

He was only ever seen clothed in the finest of fitted suits and tailored vests—he had no qualms with showing off his wealth and status in such a way. Polished and shimmering gold buttons, cuff links, and collar pins were dotted across his attire, along with a thick leather belt and buckle, and the intricate chain of a pocket watch that could sometimes be seen dangling from his vest or coat pockets. Although he was often not seen surrounded by people, he always had his best friends with him—his trusted cigar and whisky that he was such a fan of.



Quirks

Wealthy — Being flush with cash, he often likes to flaunt it and show it off. Sometimes it's throwing a lavish party, or hiring exotic courtiers and escorts, or buying out the whole bar. He loves to shower his friends in gifts and gold, as long as they show their appreciation. The way he sees it, you don't take your money with you when you die, so best spend it while you have it!

Alcoholic — Haunted by his past, he spends a lot of his free time drinking (or getting sufficiently sauced). He's rarely seen without a drink, and will almost always accept an alcoholic beverage when offered. He jokes that he drinks because he fears the collective hangover may be strong enough to kill him.

Hopeless Romantic — Longing for the days where he loved someone and felt loved, he's been known to jump from bed to bed, constantly seeking to fill the gap in his life he so desperately wishes to recapture. Made all the more easy by drinking himself into mustering more courage...or lowering his standards.

Manipulative — He will say or do anything in order to get the things he wants, then there's a strong chance he may go out the door right after. At times, he can swing from being mentally (and sometimes, physically) abusive one moment, to the sweetest, most compassionate person the next. And most of the time, it's done unintentionally.

Kingston had grown up in a lower-class family, spending his days in a ramshackle house in th slums. Crime and adveristy was something he was already accustomed to at a young age, having seen roaming mobs of thugs threatening—and oft times, killing—as a way of enforcing their control of the city. In order to put food on a table, the young ape would take up odd jobs to earn a little coin and keep a roof over his family's head. After his parents passed and he spent time living alone, he fell in love with a young woman and they ran off to elope.

After several years had passed, their life hadn't improved. He and his wife were living paycheck to paycheck, and things only became more complicated with the birth of their child. In a desperate move, the ape turned to a childhood friend who had told him that, if he ever needed help, to come to him. Little did he know that that friend was one of those gangsters he grew up seeing. Kingston was given a hefty loan in order to get back on his feet, but when he was unable to pay the loan back with interest, the gang took his wife and child as collateral.

Indebted to the mob, the gorilla became the very gangster he swore to never fall in with, in order to pay off what he owed. He quickly learned the ropes and rapidly climbed the ranks of the criminal hierarchy, becoming the right-hand man of the Don and earning more coin than he knew what to do with. During this time, he was only given brief visitations with his wife and child, rarely seeing them face-to-face for very long. When the time came for his debts to finally be paid off, he intended to take his family back, and leave the gang forever. But the Don wouldn't allow that to happen...

After the Don found out about their plan to escape together, he planned her kidnapping and execution. When the reunion never happened, he told Kingston that, while he trusted the ape, he couldn't trust his wife not to rat on them. Filled with rage, he killed the Don on the spot and fled the city, never to return. He knew that his previous companions would be after him, so he he had to use the connections he'd previously made to form a whole new posse, and a whole new life. But he'd always long for the life, and the love, he once had...
