The Flock |
|
Songbird, she who sows madness with a melody. Leader of The Flock, an assassin's organization that is picky about its targets, and if rumours are to be believed, consult an Archfey before accepting or rejecting a contract. Her elegant, painted nails are dipped in more pies than modestly allowed at a party, and people of influence who owe her a debt bite their lip whenever they hear the sound of birds singing at their window at her memory. The words surrounding her are numerous, and it is with living tongues do they spread; she chooses to form bonds with people in need, to be a charismatic face to an otherwise shrouded organization kept in the dark. She pulls influence like a weaver from a wheel of thread, readily and freely, often without much resistance. So far no one has seen her kill, because she has other alternatives to the act. If there is a need to, someone from her roster will be assigned the job, knowing that they are simply itching for a chance to maim, like a cat on the prowl. However, that silence does not speak for a lack of an ability to do the deed herself; anyone who wishes to take a shot at her head is welcome to face testament as to how she's held position as leader for so long. Her role in The Flock is like a disgruntled General Manager; to ensure all operations runs smoothly, and every agent is satisfied with their lot. She also ensures enough jobs are taken on the daily with balance to prevent burnout and that the cut is fair to the staff who perform it, lest she'd find daggers in her back for shortchanging them. Zaharah runs The Flock like a family business and looks out for the welfare of those under her wing. Because of this, there are many who have stayed and remained loyal to her over the long years of her tenure as head of operations. Despite this, she fully believes that loyalty is ever an illegitimate currency, and the hearts of man can flip in one night. After all, it was her hands that slew her predecessor, and the same can damn well happen to her. |
【Fates Intangible】
To bring the swiftest end; such were the words of the Forgemother when she dripped the blood of the sundered angel Hadariel into an ornate dagger's casting metal. Regardless of the sin or lack of it, Mercy's Kiss was created to spell a quick, merciful end to her enemies. That was the role she was forged for, yet Zaharah was not measured by such reaches. As soon as she was emancipated by the Shadow Witch, she tried creating a path for herself, and found a love for magic in her hands where once there was her soul's core, in the form of an elegant keris. Regardless, her miscellaneous jobs never really had much of a variation despite trying to steer away from a life of killing, time and time again; surely one could use a spear as a walking stick, but its nature will never be changed.
【Fae-Touched】
Unlike most Aasimar, she receives no divine word from any angel whispering in her ears to guide her to good or evil. Where others perceive this as an aberration, Zaharah knows not what to do with it, and carries on with her life as a normal human would. As of late, however, the Archfey Geist has made his bearings and terms known and to be adhered to by everyone who received of his powers; to this, she agreed to, as the Archfey was never a mind of mischief, but one of properly aligned moralities.

【Leader Fair】
Heading an assassin's troupe known as The Flock, Zaharah did not build the group from the ground up, but rather joined its ranks after skipping out on both a mage as well as a master bard in the early years of her current life. She worked her way up as the operation's face, coordinator as a telepath and support. Through active listening and management was she chosen to eventually lead the Flock, but it was revealed by an interloper, a demigod seeing to free his sister from captivity, the spy ring was then only used as a means for him, a Lich, to amass an army of skilled bodies. She betrayed this trust to protect her other comrades, and reformed The Flock to work independently. With who she could trust of the broken cell, the Flock freed the captive Archfey Geist, and Zaharah let him be judge and jury of their targets... as long as he provides The Flock with the powers they need.
【Whispers】
A spymaster of any worth is sure to have an extensive amount of birds that chirp, and Zaharah is no different. She keeps her ears firmly to the floor and in the air, so that no word of politics, personages in nobility or economics slip by without them noticing. After all, in the business of others do their own thrive, and in the unfinished sentiment of those who can afford it are their own coffers lined. They only have to get Geist's approval, and see if the cause is just. .....................................................................

【Personality】 Zaharah is a charismatic, keen-minded and well-intentioned person with the most nefarious plots in her mind. Her voice drips like honey with equal promises of love and ruin; one hand held over your heart in support while the other presses a knife to the small of your back. While she does not wear her heart entirely on her sleeve, one pulls more flies with honey than vinegar; so she is amiable to most, rational and even someone who is open to discussion. While she operates on business codes, she is willing to bend a few rules, overlook slights and taper her plans with clients according to their needs, budget and (most importantly) Geist's approval. Adaptability is the secret to her long-standing success, and where she can predict outcomes, she ensures preventions are made to minimize damage to the organization, her people and reputation. After all, The Flock also deals in matters of face, and losing it means losing standing in good society.
"Some would say our fates are written in stone. My vision for The Flock is that we read the script, and carve in it our own fate for the morrow."

MISC. INFORMATION ARMOR CLASS: 18 HP MAX: 175 HIT DICE: 19d8 LANGUAGES: Common, Celestial, Draconic IMPORTANT INFO ON-HAND WEAPON(S): Oathbow "Oathbow"
Weapon (longbow), very rare (requires attunement) When you nock an arrow on this bow, it whispers in Elvish, "Swift defeat to my enemies." When you use this weapon to make a ranged attack, you can, as a command phrase, say, "Swift death to you who have wronged me." The target of your attack becomes your sworn enemy until it dies or until dawn seven days later. You can have only one such sworn enemy at a time. When your sworn enemy dies, you can choose a new one after the next dawn. When you make a ranged attack roll with this weapon against your sworn enemy, you have advantage on the roll. In addition, your target gains no benefit from cover, other than total cover, and you suffer no disadvantage due to long range. If the attack hits, your sworn enemy takes an extra 3d6 piercing damage. While your sworn enemy lives, you have disadvantage on attack rolls with all other weapons. Proficiency with a longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it. Given to Songbird by Father Koel. "Mark of the Owl Tattoo"
