Family Legacy-Over the years, Cheyanne has been slowly collecting what remnants she can of her Grand-mère’s Dreamspeaker past, and perhaps taking notes here and there. As such, she is somewhat of a resident expert when it comes to the Spirit Sphere.
A Keen Eye-When your job is about all the little angles and details to create a perfect whole, you learn how to observe and how to spot something out of place. Grants +1 to Perception and Investigation.
Disadvantages:
Superficial-Despite having a generally warm and bubbly demeanor, those outside of the magic community often find that Cheyanne keeps a distance between herself and others. As for why this is, who can say?
Beauty is Noise-While being particularly fashionable and cosmopolitan is all well and good, clicking around in high heels you insist on wearing constantly is less than ideal in matters of laying low, and physical combat for that matter. -1 to Stealth and Brawl.


A Spiritual Awakening
The daughter of two college professors, Cheyanne practically grew up on a picturesque college campus, surrounded by bustling landscaped scenery as much as she was surrounded by books. An only child and often brought to lectures given by her parents, young Cheyanne was used to being the center of attention and was always eager to chatter away with every little detail of what she had done that day. A charming precocious child, she was. From a young age, she developed a fascination with her father’s camera, constantly taking pictures and begging her parents to get them developed. This developed into a passion for photography, and while her parents were supportive, Cheyanne could not help but feel a twinge of guilt that she would not be following in their footsteps in the pursuit of a PhD. Though the pressure did ease somewhat when at the age of fifteen, a little brother entered the picture to perhaps take on that particular responsibility. So she pursued her passion and began building the foundation for what would hopefully become a fruitful career, taking commissions and doing paid photoshoots whenever possible.

In time she ended up married to a sweet man who for a while seemed to support her ambitions. Yet the more successful Cheyanne became, the more distant she grew from her husband. Suddenly the tenacious career woman was too much, too focused on her work, too tethered to her work friends, too close to everyone for his liking. Five years of marriage ended in divorce, just a few days shy of Cheyanne’s twenty-sixth birthday. The worst part? She didn’t even feel a thing. Not grief. Not sorrow. If anything, it was a massive relief, really. A feeling that she could now finally do whatever it was she pleased and no longer had the hindrance of a partner. It was practically a state of euphoria to not be so bound to another. She had been downsized from a nice house to an apartment, wasted years of her life on something that would have never worked, and yet she felt released from all burden. For just a moment, in that empty apartment and high off of unexpected euphoria, Cheyanne found herself standing elsewhere. Almost like a dreamscape, silhouettes and voices of beings that couldn’t truly be there, unseen but sensed walls. It only lasted a moment, but she knew what she saw. She could never forget.

In the twelve years since her Awakening, Cheyanne maintains her day job as a photographer, her business having reached enough success that she is commonly sought after by the denizens of Hollywood, but also exhibits an active presence within the circles of the Dreamspeakers. Her gift of gab has proved somewhat useful in her explorations into the Spirit World, getting spirits to open doors they wouldn’t have otherwise. Known for her unexpectedly bubbly nature, the mage has the ability to exude an inviting aura of warmth. Yet beneath it all, there is a very purposeful distance there, a guarded core of granite underneath the seemingly feathery surface. As formidable at magic as she is at her job, Cheyanne usually manages to keep the two separate. But occasionally, when she least expects it, the two converge into fateful photos that she dares not let see the outside of her own home. Even without the occasional evidence of the spirit world showing up in her camera, sometimes a picture is not always what it seems. A picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes it can be worth one’s life. A risk Cheyanne may know more intimately than most.

Perhaps even more unsettling, is that the deeper Cheyanne has waded into the Dreamspeakers, the more she is discovering about her own family history. It seems she is not the first mage in the family, nor the only Dreamspeaker. For it appears her grand-mère once had a presence within the Tradition. Whatever questions Cheyanne has for her, however, will likely remain unanswered, given that the woman has been long dead. But if there were a way, Cheyanne wonders how easy it would truly be to resist the temptation of trying.
