Landgrave Gillow

Born in 1488, the same year the 1st King of Brimmrorke took to the Throne of Brimmrorke and took The Oath to the Charred Visage, due to this his birth was prone to rumors consisting of being the next king in line, despite the fact that through Brimmrorke's history there has only been the 10 forefathers that became kings only, the other rumors depended on how zealous his family members were, the ones with most zeal had predicted what they think to be his guaranteed downfall. His birth was insignificant to most of his family members, but to those who stayed with him were witness to possibly the earliest times when a baby spoke their first word and when a baby took their first steps, he was not even 9 months in and already he was striving to discover what the world had in store for him.

At the age of 5 his tendency to explore the outside world only grew larger alongside him, he would always sneak away from his mother who worked at him as an artisan of sorts, and his father wasn't an issue since he worked far off in the mines of his hometown Willow's Wail, which was somewhat far from the 1st King's city of Hailroster, as a result, it was somewhat poor all around, he would walk out and explore as far as his feet would take him, which was rather far as he had more stamina than any other child at Willow's Wail. He would speak to everyone he could, to the point where other residents at other settlements started to call him "The Prowler" It did not help that he was wide-eyed and most of the time his hair was covering his face, it gave him a creepy aura. He explored everywhere he could but he would always stop just behind Hailroster, out of tiredness or from his mother, he would hear from other folk that his mother was looking for him, and he would return to his home to tell tales of his adventures, much to his parent's dismay.

He turned 7. During one of his explorations, he met those from The Fur, a fox from the village of Lycal, he had never heard of or even seen anthropomorphic animals before, only the multitude of cats that Willow's Wail had and even those were not anthropomorphic. The fox was hostile at first but eventually, the situation was diffused, and young Landgrave befriended the fox person, Landgrave asked the fox questions of its origins, the fox was amused at how naive he was, but he caved and told as much as he could, but when Landgrave asked if he could see Lycal, the fox refused, Landgrave begged as best he could, but the fox still refused, after a bit of back and forth, Landgrave then asked why the fox's people are nowhere to be seen around Willow's Wail or even Hailroster, the fox person became agitated but made sure not to hurt Landgrave, he parted from there and made sure Landgrave did not follow. Young Landgrave returned home without his parents noticing he was gone.

That same year, Landgrave had also encountered one from The Mystic, a fairy that he had encountered during his trip in the woods not too far from Willow's Wail, of course, he asked a large load of questions related to the fairy, and the fairy was cooperative luckily and attempted to answer all of young Landgrave's questions, the fairy even considered taking Landgrave to it's own village. An arrow struck through the small and frail body of the fairy by a human hunter that happened to pass by Landgrave, they and their party quickly came to Landgrave's protection. Landgrave looked upon the fairy's dead and cold body with the same wide eyes he always gave everyone and everything else in spite of differing species, it was now a symbol of fear and anger. The hunters took Landgrave back home and his mother scolded him, but her voice was unheard, for young Landgrave's mind was occupied with something else that was rather horrific.

It was that year he was taught of the War of Man and The Fur and The Mystic, and how prejudice and hatred had seeped into the land of Brimmrorke, and how evil had originated from The Fur and The Mystic, and why they all should be shunned and killed off, for the glory of Brimmrorke, he did not know what to think. . . did he put the fox person in danger with his presence as well? The thought of the hunters killing off them and those of Lycal. . . it was too much to think about for him.

By the age of 11, his father had told him that the hunters who "saved" his life had finally located where that fairy's village was located and needless to say, Landgrave's mind was broken by what his father had told to him. This age is when he started to help at the mine his father worked in, by request of his father. The miners there had heard of Landgrave and his younger days, they expected the same wide-eyed Landgrave to be amongst them, but he looked no different to them when he came by. His sadness swelled to anger as he burned through rock after mineral, his hands and arms hurt, he produced more sparks than anyone else there, even with those assisted with magic. That same year he was taught his first combat tactics by his father, intended for use only against those in The Fur and those in The Mystic, but Landgrave was intending for something else entirely, he was going after those hunters.

He built up his current build through years of exercise, combat training, and working at the mines. At the age of 15, both his parents became sick, unable to do their jobs, he became the one who provided the food on the table now. He cared for them as best he could, he looked for ways to cure them of this disease, but to his dismay, this disease was made with magic, just as he had read during his spent minutes at the library. There was nothing he could have done, so after two grueling years of taking care of his parents, he heeded both their requests to "Have mercy, my son." and provided them their mercy. At the age of 17, he buried his parents at the graveyard at the Church of the Forefathers at Hailroster, it was his first time in Hailroster. There he found out this epidemic was spreading quickly through Hailroster and Willow's Wail, so it was not only his parents, it was also where he found out it wasn't just any common magic, it was fairy magic.

Through tracking and asking locals, he tracked down the hunters who ravaged the fairy village, they were dead as well, the fairy's disease rotting them to the point of them being unrecognizable the only way Landgrave was able to recognize them was because of their weapons. He left feeling unfulfilled, and longing for all of this to be a mere nightmare. He checked on Lycal, the village the fox he met all those years ago had told him about, it was there he realized the fox population of Lycal was not fairing any better than those in Willow's Wail and those in Hailroster, and any other villages and towns close to those settlements, the disease had spread there as well, he ran to see if he could find the one fox he met all those years ago, but nearly everyone was dead, and rotting, those who have not yet joined death had cursed him out and threatened to attack him, he ran away from the village, tears in his green eyes that use to shine so bright.

He had to protect himself against the disease with Yorrel's Flame, a fire that burned a bright blue, said to deter any type of miasma except naturally caused ones, after the epidemic had seized and the bodies of other innocents had stacked, to the point where they had to be burned. He read up on the history of Brimmrorke and the war and hatred of The Man, The Fur and The Mystic, he was enthralled in the history of such atrocities, or at least the ones he can think of, the books he read were quite biased for humanity. This is where he found out about the king currently in rule, The Faceless King, The 1st King, the last forefather out of the ten ancients, and The Oath to the Charred Visage Ceremony, a declaration of peace between all species, the 1st King had taken this oath to peace by burning his face off with a golden mask, this is where he realized that he had a chance, a chance to redeem himself, a chance at redemption, after that whole ordeal of events, he began to blame himself for all those deaths, if he hadn't visited that forest, most likely none of this would have happened. He read on the history of a knightly brotherhood known as the Union Bringers, established by the 5th King, in order to establish peace between all species everywhere, these knights had to travel all throughout Brimmrorke in order to complete tasks for other species in exchange for a treaty of peace between their species, then there it was, he decided for a new life calling, he left the mines and his home behind and began to enlist into the 1st King's army, The Hailrosteran Brotherhood.

Through the years, his time at the brotherhood had been grueling to say the least, they trained him harder than his father ever did, than his father ever could have hoped for, it brought him to his limit every. Single. Time. He had nights where he could not sleep, because the brotherhood would not let him, nights where he nearly had mental breakdowns, which is par for the course of the brotherhood. It didn't help that he was known as "The Prowler" in the brotherhood as well, which made the brotherhood try and break his innocence even more, despite the fact that he was mostly out of hope due to his ongoing beliefs that he was the cause for the epidemic that ravaged parts of Brimmrorke. He still had this small hope that he can train hard enough to the point where he would meet the 1st King, and request to join the Union Bringers.

He was steady in ascending the ranks in the brotherhood, mission after mission, ravaging foreign enemies outside of Brimmrorke, and trying to defend against attacks back in Brimmrorke, ravaging anything that comes in his way, even if it affected him further down his spiral, he kept steadfast in his soon-to-be redemption. The day came, he was called in by the 1st King himself, he came by and kneeled down in front of one of the founders of the very ground he stood upon. The 1st King noted that he hadn't seen talent like Landgrave's in a long while, it reminded him of the knights that use to be in the Union Bringers, which was now defunct, but there is of course a reason Landgrave was called, because the 1st King wanted to reestablish peace in Brimmrorke, in reality the war never stopped, it was looming over everyone's heads, and the war that devastated Brimmrorke was etched into the mind of the 1st King, just as it was for everyone else, he was waiting for this exact moment to happen, Landgrave is a perfect candidate.

At the age of 30, he was officially knighted to the Union Bringers knighthood, although he was the only one, he made himself and to everyone else a promise that he will one day bring union upon all of Brimmrorke and finally end the after effects of the war, he promised to bring everything and everyone together in harmony and peace, forevermore. The green in his eyes shined once again, just like it did all those years ago.
