  • Meat

    If your eyes will, one day, meet the creature I'm going to narrate the tales onto this place, this is what you will see. A handsome young man, tall like few, with blonde hair so shiny that someone could think they were weaved from thin threads of gold. A pair of blue eyes, clear as the newest sapling approaching their first sprint, are just jewels that harmonize perfectly with his visage, skin so soft and smooth that many would think he received it from an angel of God. To compliment his appearance, a curious set of colourful dresses, extravagant and well made but yet not looking expensive like the ones the nobility uses, cover his body, giving him both an attractive and bizarre aura. Even the jewellery he wears is, somehow, odd and difficult to define. His many necklaces rings and earrings, so beautiful to be expected only on the skin of nobles, appear made with such simple craft that even the poorest laundress could afford a pair of them.

    If someone would ever be so courageous as to face his doubts and fear and approach him, a gentle caress of saffron and incense would touch their nostrils, the essence coming from the man himself. Should you decide to go forward and interact with him, he will greet you with a warm, calming smile and a voice, soft as silk and equally soothing. His movements will be slow and composed, almost like he's a musician carefully playing his instrument for your enjoyment. And all of this will appear to you as natural as it could be, something he does as part of his being, not something he planned or practised... so much spontaneous that you will probably start to question it. Is he really a human? A divine being? A wizard, chaining your mind with such a tempting illusion? Or is he just... himself?

  • Spice

    Callyx is... well, quite the unusual gold dragon if I can say that myself... and for many reasons.

    Firstly, he has quite a very vast interest in the "mortals" lives, so much that he spends most of his time with them, acting like a "normal" human. He spends time working with them, drinking with them, eating with them, dancing with them... and especially cooking with them. While gold dragons are usually quite reserved creatures, not enjoying spending a lot of time even with their owns, Callyx flips that stereotype 360°: his fascination with them is so vast and strong that he will gladly spend a night with a lovely lady just for the fun of it (something dragon culture finds very repulsive even amongst the evilest ones).

    However, despite this mindset of his, Callyx is no fool: he is fully aware that people are still ignorant of the dragon society, mistaking them for dangerous flying lizard at best, servants of the dark forces of the world at worst, so he does keep his identity concelead as much as he's able to; not out of fear of danger to himself, but most because he doesn't want to ruin the relationships he built with the mortals during his years passed among them. As such, he doesn't intervene too much into their lives, gladly spending his time with them... but, for example, don't expect him to turn himself into his real, draconic form and ask the evil count to tax his citizens fairly, but he will not do such a thing... again, not because he think the duke's right in his abuse of power, but because he does not believe mortals should expect the coming of a "hero" to resolve their problems.

  • Plating

    About the many, many things the mortals have shown to Callyx over his long journey at their side, the art of cooking is, without any doubt, the one that he's most fascinated about. Dragon culture merely considers food as sustenance, a need more than pleasure: their senses are usually too much busy in searching and hoarding treasures like gems, coins, tomes and artefacts to even care about anything else, especially when such items are quite tempting in the eyes of adventurers and other dragons. This is not the case for Callyx, who keeps a very modest stash of gold and other trinkets in his lair but doesn't value it that much since they are there only as:
    - Bait and switch for thieves, a way to keep his real treasure hidden.
    - A bargaining chip when he needs to acquire something he's really interested into

    Language, ideologies, beliefs, history, skin color... those are barriers that every individual will face when meeting a stranger

    But good food is never a barrier, it's an open door to meet the other one on both your best terms

    Initially practised as a hobby to better "mix" himself with the mortals, the dragon found very quickly how incredibly passionate he was about this topic, soon enough deciding to spend his life improving in the art of cooking, becoming one of the best (if not the best) chef of the multiverse. He has travelled to many lands and planes, met with thousands and thousands of individuals who gladly shared their knowledge with him, gathered, tasted and combined long forgotten or unknown spices and ingredients, and served meals in the court of kings or at the most modest table of a farmer's family. Everyone is invited to his place, no matter their race, gender or social rank: your only prerequisite is to be able to wait a little bit for the dishes to be ready.

    It's funny to see how both they bow when the belly growls its supremacy

    Ironically enough, it's this hobby of him that created the nickname "Grandsneeze" the other dragons use when referring to him, since his first days were full of moments of him sneezing flames (with unpleasant effect to the enviroment sometimes) due to his nostrils being exposed to new, very strong spices. Many in the dragon society would be offended by such a remark (especially when direct to a wyrm), but Callyx doesn't mind or, to be more honest, find such name quite fitting and funny, as he laughs like a child everytime someone reminds him of it.
