Children of Sentide:

Sentide has hands and eyes in many pockets and alleys, it isn't anywhere close to a small time group and is a widespread thing. From low level street crimes such as drug sales, protection, hits and prostitution to white collar crimes and trades in exotic arms, pets, targets and beings, their influence reaches across multiple planets. More on this later. It is rumored that this organization has long since cut the federation in on their shit to stay out of the way.

Blah blah blah, raiding planets for tech and resources, snatching up kids for their militia or cheap labor. Some children, lucky ones like Ava are chosen as personal curios for a mysterious entity who may be the head of the organization. The children see him a handful of times during maturation, and annually as ,adults if they are kept/offered (re:forced into) work as corporate assets. All of his curios refer to him as 'Papa', though he wears a different guise with each one-however close he can get to synthesizing a species like theirs.

Avalon however is fortunate enough to have witnessed a malfunction in the early days of the guise tech, and the reason she's alive is that no one knows what she saw. Not even papa.

The children are kept in a large ship separate from Sin Citadel. This ship serves as housing, education, enrichment and prison. Kids are all raised by synths, each of them are referred to as "Mom, Mommy, Mama" droids are skinned based on DNA signatures taken from the captured children which helps to program that synth into some semblance of their species. The reason this is done individually or in small groups is that each synth gets new programming for their given child to ensure that the necessary skills, lessons, and qualities are taught during development.

Some children have designations which require social enrichment, they can be grouped together with the same mother. Other designations have isolation requirements, which mean that these assets have only themselves and their mother in a pod. For many different reasons, Sentide keeps these children isolated until group study/field training is necessary. In the sciences and the treasury fields children benefit from minimal distraction during their studies.

Where some corps designations, bioscience and gladiators are concerned, it is practice to keep empathy to a minimum so that the weight associated with their future designations does not cause instability for the asset. By keeping these children separate during formative years, then slowly introducing them to peers during necessary field/group exercise, they’ll forge initial attachment (if any) to similarly developed peers before all else. This shapes their perception of the familiar, but also their preference for loyalty.

Examples of isolation dependent asset maturation include: Science/Technology, most corps math, pilots, several corps delegations, gladiators and treasurers.

Examples of social dependent asset maturation include: Entertainment, Civ Sec, M corps, Scorpio corps, Street level (Dealers, some thieves.), Overseer, Negotiator, Sales, etc.

Corps maturation protocol: isolation delegated corpsmen begin their social development two years earlier than the other isolation assets do. This is to foster the idea of brotherhood with fellow corpsmen. During their tapered social development they undergo training in many scenarios involving armed conflicts and other dangerous real world missions. It isn’t uncommon for an asset or two to die each cycle. Avalon was part of this protocol.

Avalon was initially only supposed to learn about thievery (an operation corps delegation) thanks to those gills & flexible bones of hers, and about engineering thanks to that alien brain. However, she happened to be a quick learner and a born people pleaser, so the lessons she was taught pre-socialization were learned very quickly, and more needed to be added. It was decided by whatever board is tasked with child sorting that Avalon would mature into a jill of all trades, a useful asset to the syndicate in many ways. This meant that she got the early social start with corps training & entertainment (Hawthorne). Though she was not pulled for the Hawthorne until around a cycle ago.

Once the children are around their mid teens, the synths are taken away and deprogrammed so that they can be used on other children who need them.
