Hotaru Takeda

Hotaru was born to a human father and a fairy mother. The latter was Tiger Beetle Fairy, and had the ability to shapeshift into a human form, fell in love with a human warrior after being saved by him, but this led her to be outcasted by her community.
Hotarus early life was quite rough, since her peers often ostracized her due to her wings, despite her hybrid nature was well-known in the village she and her family lived in. One day, after she turned 10, the village was attacked by an enemy clan. Her parents did their best to protect her (her mother with her magic, her father with his sword skills), but were also overwhelmed. Before they were killed, her mother used a relocation spell (which only could work on one person at once) in order to save her, sending her into the nearby forest. At the forest, Hotaru was wandering for days, until she met with a travelling mercenary named Shinji. Taking pity on the orphaned girl, Shinji let her to accompany him, until they reached a town, where Shinjis old master (Takeda-sensei) lived. Takeda-sensei took her in and taught her to the way of swordsmanship, in exchange for her helping out around the dojo. During this time, Hotaru also learned that revenge does not worth it and often brings out the worst from people. Instead, she has to use her abilities to prevent others from suffering the same kind of fate as she did in her past.
Eventually, Hotaru developed into a fine young woman, and inspired by Shinji, embarked onto her own journey.
