The supernatural forces that sustain vampires also endow them with superhuman physical abilities as well as powers of mind compulsion. Their physical abilities such as strength, speed, agility, durability, healing and senses all grow stronger with age and experience.
⎨VAMPIRISM⎬Born vampires are a subspecies of vampires, who unlike most other vampires, were born as vampires, rather than being a human who was turned into one. However, they are a rare subspecies because they have to be created. Creating a born vampire is a very difficult task as most test subjects (vampires) have died before or during the process. In Mal's case, she is a born vampire, 'created'/conceived in a secret facility between two vampires who were caught and held captive for the only purpose of breeding a superior vampire race – a perfect kill machine without the weaknesses of a turned vampire.
Born vampires are similar to turned vampires, but have a number of biological differences. Unlike turned vampires, they can procreate as they are not fully undead. They age like normal humans until they reach adulthood, are immune to sunlight, and require both ordinary food and blood to survive. They have retractable fangs and some vampiric abilities, such as enhanced healing, speed, strength, and senses, but to a lesser degree for some than a fully fledged vampire before their transition. Once they have tasted human blood for the first time, they will grow stronger and gain more vampire traits. Blood is still a factor in most cases, either they need to feed because they will die, or they simply are weakened when they don't feed.
Born vampires must take a human life to fully transition into a vampire. Once they reach adulthood, their bodies slowly start to shut down and will eventually die, if they do not feed from and kill a human. When they do, they will stop aging once turned. Upon their transition, they become immune to all conventional illnesses, viruses, drugs and poisons. After their transition, their vampire abilities will reach their peak.
Born vampires can also turn a human into a vampire. However, they can only do so by draining the human of blood before feeding the human their own blood. Their vampire venom/bite can be poisonous or pleasurable, but the effect varies greatly depending on the purpose of the bite.
⎨REGENERATIVE HEALING⎬Although Mal is a born vampire, she differs from the other, few born vampires that were successfully made, seeing as she possesses an extremely powerful healing factor, even in vampire standards (especially for a born vampire before her transition to a fully fledged vampire). Mal's primary vampiric power is an accelerated healing process that enables her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater efficiency than a born or turned vampire and an ordinary human. Her blood has healing properties as well, so whoever drinks from her will be healed of any injuries. However, it seems the healing aspects of her blood only apply to all humans and metahumans. For those who reject the healing aspects of her blood, it will turn into a deadly poison.
Moreover, the metal Adamantium (that was infused with her skeletal structure during an experiment in her young adulthood) plays a crucial role in the speed of Mal's healing as well because of the fact that it produces a toxic substance that her immune system fights off regularly. This power makes her nearly indestructible. Her extreme healing factor made her the prime candidate for experimenting with said metal.
⎨MIND COMPULSION⎬Mallory is gifted with the power of compulsion, enabling her to force her will onto another if she wishes to do so. Still, compulsions are temporary, only useful for immediate gains.
⎨RETRACTABLE CLAWS⎬Mal possesses a pair of three, 18-inch retractable claws in each forearm that emerge between each of her fingers' knuckles. They are silver, shiny, and they are made of the metal Adamantium which makes them virtually indestructible. While they allow her to cut through absolutely any substance with little resistance, they are also dosed with a deadly poison.
