  • Biography

    Alex Goldman was born on November 24, 1982 in Rochester, New York, USA. His father was an American computer scientist and his mother a Russian chemist and physicist who conducted research on radioactivity. Alex's parents showed him the world of science since childhood and raised him to become studious and interested in this field. After graduating from highschool, Alex enrolled into the Harvard Medical School and graduated with honors as a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Research. Years later, and with the help of the sponsorship of a pharmaceutical company linked to his mother, Alex obtained a Master's Degree in Clinical Research, therefore becoming an expert investigator and research scientist.

    At 26 years old, he began working for several chemical, pharmaceutical and medical facilities. Subsequently, he became well-known for his progress and achievements in this field, however, Alex was the type to maintain a great distance from public recognitions or events, due to his shyness and appreciation of his own privacy. However, that lack of notoriety was in fact what drew that attention of the anonymous organization that was known only to a select few as the SCP Foundation. A recruitment agent named █████ █████ spotted Alex while searching for scientists that excelled in their workplace but that weren't famous enough that their disappearance would become evident.

    He was approached by said agent, who claimed to be on the look for researchers for a private medical company called ██████ that was actually a front company. He was then offered a handsome deal but told that any discoveries or results he obtained had to be handled with confidentiality. Alex accepted and he was taken to a hidden facility somewhere in the United States, presumably in █████, where he was tasked with performing investigations on natural phenomena. He was then shown strange artifacts that he had to study, these would be Alex's first introduction to the enigmatic SCPs. The Foundation was in fact testing his ability to work in isolation and also under an oath of secrecy.

    Being the quiet, reserved soul he was, Alex only asked the right questions and never inquired further about the company. One day, he was assigned a task with another researcher named Scott Williams, which involved studying the effects of a highly-infections prone (which was actually SCP-008). During the research, which involved a female human subject (who was actually D-11766), an incident would occur that he would not ever forget. D-11766 became increasingly hostile and violent, so much that she somehow managed to escape her quarantine room (she was in fact released by SCP personnel) and was able to find the junior researcher that accompanied him. Alex would find the fellow researcher being devoured alive by the subject.

    Some military men barged in and terminated D-11766. That same night, Alex was taken to a special room and was interviewed by Dr. Harp, who revealed to him the true nature of the company and gave him the choice of either being administered amniotics or accepting an offer to join the real organization behind the facade. Finding himself in a predicament, he accepted... partly due to fear but also due to the salary he was being offered if he were to cooperate, which was basically the total amount of $85,000 per year. He was told that he'd be assigned to work a certain place known as Site-967 and that as long as he never disclosed anything about the organization or its findings, he'd be able to receive promotions within the organization.

    During the following weeks, Alex was introduced to the SCP Foundation, it's culture, it's rules and methods of work. And also to the nature of the artifacts and entities that were simpled refered to as "SCP". He began working as a Level 1 Assistant Researcher on Site-976 until he showed enough proficiency for a promotion. Now 30 years old, Alex had spent over a year working for the SCP Foundation and due to his good behavior and success in making discoveries, he was relocated to Site-899. He was prohibited from communicating with other people outside the Foundation with the exception of seldom approved, ocassional, supervised phone calls with his parents. He had to lie and tell them he was working overseas.

    While Alex was a doing an excellent job and even eventually became a Level 4 Senior Researcher, his self-confidence began to crack. He was horrified at the way the SCP Foundation treated the lesser members, particularly the D-Class Personnel. Every month, he had to watch how many of them had to die at the hands of other SCPs or be terminated. When the Foundation had already begun to question his loyalty and ability to comply, Alex made a severe mistake: he became close to to a female D-Class Personnel known as Subject D-12008 during a research involving SCP-066. With the desire to spare someone he cared about of their inevitable fate, Alex attempted to help D-12008 escape the facility through Gate 2 but was discovered.

    Subject D-12008 was terminated right in front of him and Alex received a disciplinary hearing for "unprofessional behavior regarding the use of Class-D Personnel and unauthorized release of Subject D-12008". During the meeting, Alex was heavily admonished for his offenses; he took the time to call out the Foundation for their inhuman treatment toward D-Class Personnel and, during the heat of the moment, even threatened to release their activities to the public. This brave but foolish act proved to be severe. He was stripped of his rank as a Level 4 Senior Scientist and demoted to Class-D, and also given a Class F amnestic known as ██████ against his will to entirely wipe out his memories. He was declared dead to his family afterwards.

    By the time he woke up, Alex had completely forgotten his identity and assigned to an amnestics officer who revealed his new name to him: Subject D-12096.

  • Personality

    Since youth, Alex was reported to shy, quiet, studious and laid-back. Inquisitive, he used to be your average researcher deeply interested in science. Corteous and polite to other SCP personnel, Alex had but one single flaw: he lacked the coldness required to perform actions that would be otherwise considered inhuman and unethical. Therefore, he was easily overwhelmed at the sight of people getting killed, having to use test subjects and dispose of them, terminating D-Class Personnel, etc. In other words, Alex had a feeble mind not suited at least, to what the SCP Foundation required in their investigations of SCPs.

    However, after receiving Class F amnestic ██████, Alex's behavior changed drastically. He became desensitized to displays of cruelty and violence, albeit still capable of rational fear responses and feelings. He also became more talkative, easily speaking his mind without any sort of uneasiness. Perhaps due to the treatment he received after becoming a Class-D Personnel, Alex's survival instincts prevent him from fully trusting the Foundation and its motives. Despite being amnesiac, Alex appears to feel that there's something terribly wrong and fishy about the organization. He complies to most orders issued him, but it's suspected that he actually wishes to escape and find out what's that feeling that bothers him constantly.
